8th - My steering wheel trim was worn down and peeling so i had removed it, sanded it down and repainted them satin Black.. [No before pics]

I dont know how you managed to get this trim off, because myself and a greek man (who claims to know everything, and who is in dire need of a manicurist) managed to break 2 sets and still no closer to knowing exactly how to remove them without the chances of breaking it.

it seems like these stupid trimmings are simply not meant to be removed:rage:
There's a delicate way to do it without breaking them. i got a step by step DIY online from the US forums.

Before i start with the Coilovers, most people know that the Z4M has a very disappointing Gear change feel... Alot of things can be done to improve on it but the ZHP weighted gearknob is one of the best ways to do it.. at under a Grand, i dont know why i didn't do it in the first place.

Stock Knob - mind the cables, i couldn't wait to remove it.

this thing made a world of a difference..

Now onto the BC Racing Coilovers, the original plan was to fit them while replacing all other suspension components like control arms, tie rods, bushes.ect but I couldn't wait for all the other suspension components to arrive so i fitted the BC's quickly yesterday morning... Install time for front and back... 45min-1hr.... Time to set them up, the rest of the day and atleast another 3 hours this morning.

Fitting them was very straight forward 7 bolts in the front, 3 at the rear... Setting them took a sh!t load of time with Pen, paper, Measuring tape, and jacking the car up and down about 10 times while taking it out for a few test drives then coming back jacking setting lowering measuring driving jacking measuring setting driving...on and on and on but eventually i got it pretty good and my alignment is still on point. I had little expectation for these Coilovers at the start but they have impressed me so much this far. I chose to go with Rubber mounts instead of solid/pillowball top mounts and the ride is so good, i was expecting it to be hard and bouncy but its not far off from stock.. after setting everything and all the test runs, i took it for a mad drive on a pvt track :D it handles and brakes way way better than OEM... even with my finished rear tires it now has much more traction at the rear. i'm very happy with them.. i will replace the rest of the suspension components in the new year and get the properly balanced and aligned...

Clint - which BC set did you get? The V1 VS or VM, or is the BR (RS)range?

So you reckon you would advise this over the Bilstein B6/B8 for similar pricing?

Thanks bud!

Hey Pete, I got the BR's with Rubber top mounts bud.

Depends on what you looking for sir, if you just want to replace shocks then Koni's and Bilstein's are epic, you put them in and forget about them and they will serve you well.. but if you want to sharpen things up and adjust it to your own requirements (Damper and rebound (soft for daily/ Hard for fun days) or Height) then Coilovers are the way to go... in my opinion so far the BC's are awesome for the price, I set mine up to about a 1cm lower than stock F&R and set the damper settings to 20 F&R (1= soft and 30 = hard) and its handling way better than stock... the car is less bouncy and body roll improved alot...

i'm painting my rims so My car is on stands at the moment, will be back on the ground by sunday hopefully then we will meetup and you can drive it and decide if you want to go the coilover route... :) Oh and BC's are serviceable by Steve Hurley at Koni who also handles all the warranty claims for them so atleast getting them reconditioned later on wont be so much of a mission...

Awesome man. That would be great. I'm just thinking, if I'm doing the shocks and the price diff isn't that great - may as well go with the same set!

My Rims started to look old and tired so i pulled them off to paint them the right way... with good old fashioned Base and Clear coat...

See,
img_9871_7964584901.jpg

Since i put down like 7 coats on the plastic shit (2 base, 2 Foliatec, 3 Clear) it was kind of thick enough to peel off the front..
img_9906_7916384558.jpg

but the inside of the rim was a mission, it was impossible to peel off. So i had to use Thinners..
img_9917_36196778.jpg

One of the rims had some real bad curb rash which was highlighted by the black plastdip.
img_9881_650313356.jpg

so i Decided to repair all the curb rash while i was at it...
img_9893_2594576436.jpg

Sanded down and ready to wash
img_9903_8963037687.jpg

Masked and ready for Paint... hopefully today if the weather allows...

Nice man! How do you fix the curb rash yourself?

That's one of the main reasons I used the plastidip... to hide the curb rash!

Are you Foliatec/Plastidping again? Same colour?

i sanded it down and filled it with body filler then sanded it down again to the shape of the rim.

Not using removable paint this time...or ever again....I dont like the way the brake dust stick to the spray film so I went to the auto paint store and mixed a metallic grey looking colour for the rims and will put clearcoat over that... Gonna apply it with a HVLP spray gun...

Happy with the outcome, loads of gloss and way more durable than the plastic dip and foliatec spray film.
