Hazard lights flash by itself

Hi Guys, Please can you assist, I have a 2003 318ti E46, as of yesterday my hazards stop working, today while driving the hazards start flashing automatically, any one knows why this is happening and have a solution

I'm assuming that you use your hazards a lot if you noticed them stopped working? And now it started working again and you can't switch them off?

Sounds to me like the actual switch might be the problem. The only time the car overrides the switch is when it detects that it was in an accident, which I'm assuming is not the case here?

I have experienced the same on a customer's car several years back. It was the hazard switch acting up, luckily it doesn't happen often. If a new switch doesn't cure it then it's the relay.

^^Was just about to mention that. Before ripping out the switch check proper connection on the relay. Had a similar issue with my e36 although it was the left indicator

Howsit, Take this car to a jol, switch the lights off and let the car start the party with amazing intuitive flashing amber lights.

No, seriously.
If its not the switch, relay, fuse going wonky, could be wiring.
pull out the switch and check if its not shorting somewhere.
