Hail Damage

Hi Guys

On Saturday there was a freak hail storm which unfortunately caused a fair amount of damage in Mayfair. Have a look at these pictures. My Mazda CX3 is insured (the quote was around R76000 for the repairs) but my BMW is not - So now I have to find some sensible options of sorting out the bodywork and the windscreen. I would welcome suggestions.

Pics

My priority is first the windscreen and then the bodywork - there are a fair amount of dents (just not that visible in the photos).

I see there are hail dent remover kits on Takealot - has anyone tried these?

Hi buddy. Those take alot kits are risky. They use hot glue and sometimes pull out the paint. Il msg u shortly on a possible solution

Kits available from take alot mean nothing without the involved skill.. PDR is an art form and takes a great deal of effort.

You could order the best PDR kit out of the US, and you are still going to screw it up, don't go there.

Your cheapest way to sort this out, if the paint is not off/chipped, or the metal too stretched, it could be PDR'ed

but PDR technicians are in demand at the moment, and charge stupid money because they can, and you cant blame them... Wait 6 months for them to have no work, and you can get a decent pdr tech to do a whole car for like 5k

Yeah good idea - I can wait till the demand drops and then hopefully get a better deal on the PDR. First priority is the windscreen though. Will call a few places next week and see what the damage to the wallet is.

I have a machine that I bought for 14k I use it to do minor dent repairs. How ever I've seen the pics on ur car and honestly speaking I won't take on something that serious as it will take a few weeks... When I pop out dents with my machine it can take up to an hour to get it perfect so u can imagine how long it will take to do the whole vehicle. I do have someone who does full cars if u are interested I can send u his number. But his going to charge u about 10k to do it... If any of u guys have a few dents I can help out at a very low price but not willing to take on hail damaged vehicles right now

Update - I got the windscreen changed this week. I used Mayfair Auto Glass - They come to you so it was very convenient - They even washed the car for me.
The normal generic windscreen costed R1200 including installation (My car doesn't have auto rain sensors etc)
And I had to pay an extra R300 for the rubber beading because the old one had basically disintegrated due to age.
