Hail damage

So I'm sitting at autobahn waiting for a quote. Damage is on the roof only, tiny little dents. Not going to post pics as I can't get the tiny bastards clearly visible. Shame, my poor 125i.

Our Jeep is also currently at the panelbeater for haildamage. R28k!!! (Jeep is only worth about R90k)

:sorry::sorry:

I dread the day my car gets hit by a bad hail storm (like broken windows etc). Will mean the end of another E39 as it's not worth much and they'll probably write it off.

at least the E39 is stronger than the newer models and it would really take a pounding before succumbing to the hail

That's probably true, these were midget hail stones compared to what I have seen, roughly 75% the size of a golf ball.

Just received the quote, R50k. I think it's a bit crazy. Anyways have sent it off to my insurers, hope they don't give me crap about it.

I can't help wondering if the panel beater and insurance industry has gotten corrupt. A family member had his Polo bumped by an outoppie, while parked. Smallish dent in rear door, paint not even disturbed. Yet it came to R30k.

My take on it goes like this. Charge inflated prices, pay off insurance guys to look the other way and approve payment. I mean, the guvverment already works this way. Why can't the poor working stiffs in the private sector get in on the action? Everybody wins, except for the consumer who pays for it all.

50K for the roof only? impossible...
Yeah, my opinion as well. Will see on Wednesday what the assessor has to say.

ok, could try get you a cheaper quote but don't know if you really care if the insurance is paying.
Doesn't matter too much if they pay no, but doesnt hurt to get another quote either. Send me pm with details.

Assessor was here, says he should give go-ahead tomorrow to fix my car. hopefully that is still the case when he sends his report tomorrow. mmm, cant decide what smiley to use to indicate nervous tension... none seem applicable.

Right, so the insurance has given the go-ahead to get my leetle hatch back fixed up. :coolShake:

have a tentative booking for 2nd Feb, and then they say 3 weeks to get it all sorted out, hopefully doesn't take that long. although would rather wait a bit longer and get a perfect result.
