pretty much no arch gap
but this drop will kill your stock shocks quick... have a look at the Koni Range to get an idea of pricing they are build to take lowering springs :)

Thanks guys , the sportpack must drop the E46 about 10 to 15mm lower I'm presuming too , like the E90 so an extra 25mm at the front and 10mm in the back is what I will be dropping ? With the H&R 35 and 20mm drop ?

do you have sports pack?
the e46 sports pack suspension drops it about 20mm so the H&R 35mm springs will only drop it about 15mm this wont really be a noticeable drop... and your shocks are shorter with the sports pack so you can run the 55mm springs they will wear quicker but they should not blow immediately like the longer shocks...

what i think i will do is measure fom the arch to the top of the tyre as is now, then when the 18 inch are in do the same.

the difference should then give me an indication on how much to lower

Yes , Individual has the MTech 2 Sport pack included , with the Msport Suspension . But my car has never changed shocks , so would it be a good idea still to go for the 55mm drop ? I won't be able to afford shocks anytime soon .

you could go for the lower drop but there is no saying how long your shocks will last seeing at the getting old and probably need replacing some time soon anyway :(

the lower drop puts the wheels slightly into the arch with the lesser drop you will still have a slight arch gap...

the lesser drop is better for handling because it is optimum for the suspension geometry, but if you going for looks the lower drop looks better :)

In my opinion the HnR are great for looks and even to a point for perfomance but if you track the car at all you will have to do shocks as well as the shock is not operating in its optimum travel.

completely right if you want good handling you need good shocks :)

Im not sure i would drop an M3 ride height is pretty near perfect... if you want to improve the handling i would look at shocks and/or swaybars :)

Nah the car should drop quite well, its is allot higher than the sportspack and there are huge wheel gaps, like 1-2 cm so it looks wierd.

it will look good but... the wheels are bigger making it higher off the ground...

with the stock springs the control arms sit at the optimum angles so handling gains from lowering are less than a non M...

If you want to improve the looks the springs are good... if you more interested in improving handling then you better off with swaybars on the M3 :)

I also feel the e46 M3 looks strangely high.

Okay so I spoke to some knowledgeable people and it seems lowering the car is a no go. It seems that the best thing to do would be to drive the car until the shocks are "pap" and then replace with coilovers.

So how much for the roll bars and how thick are they compared to stock?
