Thx Fraser.
.........

U guys must make sure there's more events the weekend before or after, so that it makes our trip worth while, for driving up.
It's gonna cost at least 7 tanks of fuel for the trip

You heard it first here, plans are underway for the second attempt. This time, just bigger and better. Keep your Easter weekend in 2014 open...

:praise: that's great news. However if the date is still in the negotiation phase can I suggest that a long weekend (especially easter) is not chosen because many people choose to go away for the weekend

Good Point.
Maybe the weekend before. We can bring Eggs and can donate them to children's homes. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
We can call it the "Egg Run"
You'll need a big fridge though.

Do this and I'm in.
As a matter of fact if you approve I'll organize it on behalf of the Forum, if that's ok.
I've seen what these guys are capable of.

I want another sticker though.

YES!!!!!

One spare double bedroom at my house, more can be arranged with family and friends.

Easter weekend made sense because we can do a three day festival, and people can use it as a weekend away. I can tell you this, we are thinking about a different location because of the nature of the venue, and make it a national campaign. I cannot say much more than this just yet, the planning is still in its infancy.

New stickers- no problem!

If the plan is to have it at a different venue maybe a bowl type circuit should be considered, like the one where the hold the freestate 500? The Phakisa Raceway I think it is. This has the added bonus of being in the freestate, so a road trip for all (except for the guys in the freestate :) )
My reasoning behind a bowl type circuit is it will make it easier to keep cars in a neat formation, and to get the cars on and off the track.

If you are thinking festival, an idea could be to do something similar to the Bimmerfest that they have in the US.

Just some ideas, use it, don't use it.

And the secret is out...

That was exactly the thinking. The oval can run cars 6 abreast, its 2.5km long so we can keep rotating while we get the formation sorted out- we only have to get it all together over a minimum distance of 3.2kms. We will use a radio broadcast this time so we can talk to ALL drivers while the parade is going.

The club has done quite a few weekends away at Phakisa and not once have we not had a good time. With the track there, and if we do this over 2 or 3 days, we can have track time, races, exhibition races, entertainment and so and so on. The possibilities are endless but this will require a lot more planning than the event we just did.

Because the idea is a national campaign, the easiest way to make it work is to get regional committees going to plan their own convoys, get sponsors on board and take care of the registration process, so the event turns out almost like a coming together of all different groups. That is far easier to manage than individuals all through one channel.

Go check out the Oktoberfest BMW Car Club America put on every year, that should give you an idea of what we are thinking. If we do this right, we can make it an annual event and just move the location around to make it fair on everyone.

More updates to follow, but please guys nothing is official just yet, we are merely throwing some ideas out there.

This is an awesome idea :bravo: I AM IN  Just name the place? Imagine a 100 BMW Fanatics convoy to Phakisa from Gauteng :bravo:

Phakisa sounds awesome.

Would also like a new sticker, the kid sticking the stickers stuck mine in the tinted blue section of the windscreen.
How do we get the new ones?

Sounds like a good idea to me.. I have accommodation in Bloem so might think of going that route, either way no excuses really as it's about 2 hours drive from either side.. So I'll keep the date in mind!
