BMW Car Club Gauteng Announcements said:GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit
Saturday 6 July 2013
“At 13:00 PM on Saturday 6 July 2013, we plan to celebrate breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest BMW parade” says Michael Broom, the event organiser. “South Africans have an insatiable passion for all things motoring, and the BMW enthusiast fraternity are among the most avid of these. It only makes sense that the record should be held by South Africans.”
The parade kicks off at 12:00 PM as the feature event of the Cedar Isle BMW Track Day being held on the same day. The rest of the day’s activities include a Time Trial track day as well as two heats of the BMW CCG Club Racing Series, currently the most exciting grass roots Motorsport series in South Africa.
Anyone who owns or drives a BMW is eligible to participate. The rules set out for this attempt are quite clear, such as cars must all be moving under their own steam, only original BMW models powered by BMW engines may compete and every participant needing to sign a register and give a statement of their participation means the logistical preparation for this event is mammoth.
For this reason, BMW Car Club Gauteng and Cedar Isle Auto have enlisted the services of Stan Bezuidenhout of IBF Forensic Investigations to handle the requirements as set out by Guinness as well as the correct collection and submission of evidence. “By some stroke of fate or luck, I had also registered an attempt with Guinness with the hope of doing it at some point in the near future. It makes perfect sense for me to partner with the organisers and ensure that the record rests in South Africa”, says Stan who has over 30 years of international forensic expertise.
In order to participate, you need to register for the event at www.bmwcarclub.co.za The cost to take part is R20 which covers the cost of the extra logistical effort that is required to ensure the record is done and dusted within the hour. Any person who wishes to volunteer their assistance with the attempt is most welcome to do so and may contact the organiser directly.
