Now, the circled part, what is thy purpose and why does it look like a frikken rubber harpoon :rollsmile:?

Correct! :rollsmile: yeah, my buddy and I was taking apart his E30.

I was handed the task to remove the airbox to clean the MAF sensor. Damn that box is heavy :fencelook:

as for the rubber harpoon looking thing, I don't know

It is an e30 320i/325i airbox bottom half . I dont think the rubber is a mounting , unlike the M52B28 on the e36 328i . Maybe the rubber can be squeezed and opens up , maybe a valve of sorts ?

When I pressed and examined it, it's just rubber....I'm just interested at the shape of it :rollsmile: frikken looks like a harpoon/squid.
