Hey gents. Just a quick update. Been wanting to put the car on the dyno recently to see how it's running and did so this morning. This is after the Vanos work by Peter as well as Xcede software and decat. Took me a while to decide to do the software and decat as the car was running nicely after the Vanos work, but after chatting to one or two guys including our resident S54 performance king Neesh(4PipeR), I decided to give it a try. With the above, the car has gained power throughout the rev range and flattens out instead of dropping off up top, this is in conjunction with a torque improvement and is running really well now. The before run was done stock. I'm happy with the improvements made.

Hey gents! Just thought I'd update here with more recent work done so it's all in one spot.

Mileage just ticked over to 134k km. I decided to get a BMW Performance Short Shift Kit with ZHP shift knob and have it fitted by Warren (Gizmo) and while my car was there have an oil service done as I've done about 8000km since my last oil change at the beginning of the year. While the car was there however, Warren discovered issues with my propshaft which was reconned at the beginning of the year, this led to me ordering a brand new one from BMW so I know the car has the right stuff in. A couple of smaller things were also replaced such as the exhaust mounts. All the work and pictures are contained in the thread below.

Once I got the car back from Warren it was running so smooth, with the short shift kit looking and feeling so awesome!

Next up on the list was a bit of love for the exterior where my good friend Fuzz gave the paintwork some TLC.

The car's paintwork now looks fresh and clean, and the metallic flake comes through so nicely when you look closely in the sun. The interior, although in excellent condition already, was also given some special treatment and care to keep it that way.

Next up was the shocks. The car was still running the original shocks which although not completely gone were sometimes feeling in need of a renewal so I decided to go ahead and replace them. I did quite a bit of research with the 2 main aftermarket choices being Koni and Bilstein. I did not want to lower the car so was looking at direct replacements for the OEM shocks. In the end I decided to go with the Bilstein B6's, myself and my dad have always been fans of Bilstein so I think that kinda made my decision for me, with both Koni and Bilstein receiving good reviews on overseas websites and forums.

I've only done about 150kms on the new shocks but so far so good. The Bilsteins provide nice progressive feedback, the car sits great in corners, and the shocks actually give very decent ride comfort not being too harsh at all. I will give some more feedback once I've done some more mileage.

One last thing..... I'm absolutely loving this car!!!!!!!:inlove:
