Fuck I have steam blowing out my @#$.

Decided to use the 1M to work today.

Take the covers off...
Start her up,she growls to life
Sip on some coffee while I wait fo the oil temp to increase.

15 mins later after idling, I drive off. All is fine, no drama. I'm driving no more than 40km 60 km...all is fine.

Stop at the garage to have a cigar...

Switch her off

Start her up 10 mins later, no problem. Get to the first traffic light. The dash lights up with all possible warnings. The car refuses to rev pass 2000rpm, splatters and splits. I cost her down the road for 100m, pull to side, fire her up again and bang, she is a good a new. Warning lights gone, drove her to the office for 26km...no issues, booked her into the dealer to check though.

i know the X35i's are temperamental.... a normal switch off and restart clears the error codes and driving is normal again.... But ja check them out with BMW...

Fukkit chap, when I grow up I wanna be a boss like YOU :praise:
Driving a 1M with a cigar break on the way to work ?? Now that living the good life :inlove:

But seriously, hope you get it sorted Ro. Could be just the battery if you not driving her enough.

Don't you have Xcede sw. Be very careful, take the car to them before the dealers:thumbs:

Sounds like an X35. Thats why we love and hate them. When it is very cold or very hot expect anything but is normally all good after you give it a pat on the bonnet :inlove:

might be unrelated, but is idling the car for 15 minutes a good thing?
dont think its necesarily a bad thing, but the best and most efficient way to warm up a car is to drive after start-up but very slow until oil temps reach operating temps.

Idle for 15 min , engine oil warmed up , brakes , gearbox oil and diff oil still cold .
Hope you can throw the gremlin out , must have been a stowaway !!

I'd pay money to breakdown in a 1M lol

Im sure it was just a SW glitch and she will be motoring around soon enough!!

I had a similiar thing happen with my 2008 320i strangely enough.

Drove fine for a while on way to work then suddenly pulled off from robot and had nothing, barely managed to get the car moving. Pulled over to side of the road, switched off and on and again and everything back to normal.

Only ever happened once but it was always in the back of my mind after..

Yep, I doubt that this is the direct cause, but idling a cold engine, especially in Winter, for 15 min until warm is not a good thing for any engine in general. I reckon in reality, your car's engine would have been up to an acceptable temperature within a few minutes since they do have heat exchanges as far as I know, but best thing to do is start the engine, and give it a few seconds for all fluids to pressurise and begin moving around, then simply drive off gently.

But anyway, all that aside, something is obviously not right there, so hope you can get it sorted out! 1M rocks!!! :praise:
