Need some quick advice. After two years of enjoying my Boxster, I decided to buy a newer model. I viewed and test drove a 2012 Boxster at webuycars. Car drove great, had fsh at the agents. Decided to take the plunge. They then sent it for its cor which it failed for a slight brake shudder. Apparently it turns out it needs new disks and pads. The dealer wants me to foot the bill for this. I haven't signed anything yet so I can walk away from the deal. Where to now?

It's their problem, not yours.

Unfortunately, that's the Webuycars sales model. They take the car for inspection as soon as there's a buyer and add whatever repair costs after inspection to the selling price. I was also shocked by this and walked away from a deal. :dunnoanymore:

Thanks for the heads up:thumbs:
I'm just waiting for them to agree to eat the repair cost (however unlikely that may be) :eek:mgwaiting:

Webuycars became a joke very quickly when people realized it's the easiest way to get rid of their problems. My advice would be to stay as far away as possible. (for reference check out hello peter)

I checked quite a lot of their vehicles recently and it was pretty clear to see 90% of them were from people just looking to sell their junker quickly so that they can buy a new car. If they give you any uphill whatsoever just walk away.

There is a nice looking E92 that I went to look at recently. At first glance it was great. 75000 odd km. UK spec car with UK cluster. Took it for a drive and it went well... however there were little things like the centre console having badly gouged leather and a scuff here or there on the bodywork. The black strips on the carbon roof (where roof racks would attach) were loose on one side as was the front windscreen rubber in one corner. Still was worth a look I guess with the mileage... got into the iDrive and various items were set to infinity (effectively - 2099 due date for many items). Not sure who coded this in, but it made me wonder about what else had been done... anyway that is another story for another day...

The car is listed for R391K. After all is said and done it ends up being closer to R405K.

Now the same car ( @Neven can keep me honest here) was listed for close to 440K when it was in cape town. on the inspection there they noted a sweat from the DCT box... but everything else checked out. When I had inspection done on it, everything checked out but it needed new rear brakes and a battery now... in the space of maybe 200km (or less)

How consistent the 'in house inspection' is I don't know. Whether you can trust them with the repair or not is another one up for debate. Unless you're buying cash, they also tack on a R10K 'warranty' to appease the finance house. I also didn't get to the point of finding out what this covered.

I think I would have been more comfortable finding a good one with a bit more mileage but under 300K and then sending it straight to tunetech for preventative work.

I own a BMW 135i (M)
Also bought a Porsche Cayman S (M)
The only thing better about the Porsche was the handling, but every time I drive the BMW, I liked it more than the porsche. Cost half the price, more power, better seating position, even the brakes was better in the BMW.

I Sold the Porsche, and bought another 135i DCT :)

Is the 2012 model a 981? The power of 981 is not much more than 987. Spider model of 987 or 981 is rare, good car to own.

The spider is way out of my price range. Having driven both the base 981 and the 987 base models, there's not a big difference in straight line performance. The 981 is more refined but handles just as well. It also comes with the excellent pdk box which is the best automated box I have experienced.

Porsche is just something special.

One word of advice. When buying a Porsche buy an S. Not a straight boxtser. Firstly resale and secondly you notice the huge difference with the 3.4 motor :cartel: better brakes etc....

I am on my 3rd Porsche now. Started with a 2001 Boxster S then 2009 facelift Boxster S and now the 2015 Boxster GTS.
No other car has come close to the enjoyment I get from them.

But if I were you walk away as brakes is a very expensive exercise to replace. You can skim them once which is cheap. Do yourself a favor and buy an S rather. I have sold plenty Porsche’s and the non S just doesn’t sell. Just my 2cents worth.

Absolutely. With the standard boxster u dare not try to even take on something like a Golf R at the tlgp, unless u want to be embarrassed! But viewing the Boxster as a point and squirt weapon is missing the point, the pleasure it gives you on a twisty road is unrivaled. Sheer driving pleasure indeed!

As for the price of brakes, I was quoted 13k for front pads and disks. This is pretty similar to the amount I spent on my 987.

I took a friends Boxer for a spin the other day.

He bought car for his dealership and selling again.
I wouldn't change from 330d to Porsche but still in the back of my head I still wanted it after I took it for a drive.

So I am 1.96m tall and my friend 2.06m.
So we both mission to get into this Porsche.
First thing was to get the sunroof open and then to get in.

Driving was so nice except for steering pushing against my legs al the time but still a very nippy car and the color attracts so much attention.

If I hade money laying around I will like a Porsche
