hi all,

My car will be out of MP soon and wanted to know what things I should look out for? What things should ask them to check. One guy said I should ask them to check my Control Arm Bushes, Brake pads & disc and handbrake.

Thanks in advance

Get them to check the suspension ( a must for a sportspack)

Brakes they wont change unless the sensors are triggered.

Get them to check whatever you can.

tell them your brakes are squeeking, handbrake doesnt hold well, alignment is off and also the car is hissing...

these worked with my buddy's 320d, they changed everything, not sure if every dealer would do that though

Their words to me : We can't just check everything, you need to specify what to check

I reckon thats fair... it would be impossible for them to check everything, and if you say something broad like check the essentials, they might get irate customers if something that they didnt check breaks.

And tell them you often hear a knocking sound from the suspension - squeaking brakes is a good way to have them change the pads at least!

Tell them you hear a knocking noise when going over bumps.
When you turn you get a grinding noise.

You experiencing a loss of power.

For the clutch tell them your 2nd gear is a fight at times. It always works

And when driving at slow 20/30km in a peaking lot or closed space you hear a squeal on the the rear, the will change the brakes and shoes.

Cause after MP discs and pads rear alone will cost like +-R5000. ( talking from experience)

This is the time where you should have made good buddies with your dealer , get brakes done , all round , suspension , aircon , pretty much , check everything , and just for fun tell them you can feel the car is unstable , etc , make the most of your motorplan

Have them inspect the gearbox sump for leaks.... actually you need to do it, and tell them if its leaking... known fault...

My Motorplan expires in a few months time...

Had it in at Sandton Auto 2 weeks back for rear brake pad change.

Pleasantly surprised when they changed pads and disks all round.

If you tell them the car feels unstable at speed, they will do the wheel alignment for you and check out the control arm bushes.

Even if the brake pads have some life left in them, say the brakes sometimes squeal and the handbrake pulls up too high. They might replace the pads. They won't replace the discs if they are still within thickness spec.

Complain about poor airflow from the ventilation system, they may replace the pollen filter for you depending on when last it was replaced.

Mention anything else that bothers you and ask for specifics to be looked at.

Happened to my steptronic twice, Plastic sump how silly can they be.

Car is also low due to m-pack, always touching speedhumps and driveways
