I arrive at Tarlton around midday on Saturday, a quick “Howzit” to the guys, get the registration done and I’m ready for my 1st run.

First run with semi's – 12.4 at 186KPH, massive amounts of wheel spin with a 60foot of 2.2

2nd Run – swapped to MT Street Radials – 12.4 @ 188.5KPH with a 60foot of 1.9.
Here’s the thing, on the 2nd run I exit slightly higher with a much improved 60foot of .3 seconds, of which I’m told equates to .5 / .6 improvement in exit time. Hell, I even out launched a GTR on that run

Now how is it possible that I exit faster, have an improved 60foot time but still complete in the ¼ mile in the same time as my first run?

There were no changes to the car in terms of tuning / software, only change between the runs was the rubber.

Very weird. It's almost as if the car slowed down in the middle, then suddenly accelerated like mad at the end to make the exit speed faster.

Very strange...

And traction was an issue you say? :roflol:
Was there any additional laying down of the rubber?
Did you suffer any heat soak?
You did come a little faster in the 2nd run by the looks of things

The clutch was completly fried after that run, maybe it was riding during certain points of the run? I have the V Box data but cannot upload until I get home, or can I mail it to someone to post?

i dont know why you guys bother with 1/4 mile drag races. its the same reason why other brands of cars wouldnt bother with rolling races as in GTBoard.com

imo 12.4 is just not a true reflection of Rowen's car. not by a long shot. so whats the point? shredded tyres and smoking clutch. if you buy a BMW, stick to rolling runs or track days.

perhaps i am the only one that doesnt get it :dunno:

OK so after analysing the acceleration & g's data, It's plain to see that the clutch was slipping immediately after each gearshift.

1st to 2nd gear, there was 0.73 seconds of ZERO acceleration.
2nd to 3rd gear, there was 0.71 seconds of ZERO acceleration.
3rd to 4th gear, there was 0.74 seconds of ZERO acceleration.

The car got to 188 in 12.23 seconds. It crossed the line at 12.45 seconds at 188km/h. You can see in the graph that for the last 0.3 seconds the car stayed at 188km/h.
