With a X3 being the donor, and I know the E46 overseas were available in x-drive, how hard would it be to turn this car into awd??

But why would you want to do that :/ ? X drive is only really nesecairy for where it snows. In my opinion.

An awd e46 touring would be epic. I know it's an overkill but heck it sounds like a great idea.

Although an S54 would be awesome in there, the costs involved in getting one and keeping one in tip top shape leave a bitter taste in my mouth, the S54 horror stories on this and overseas forums don't help either. M54 spares are way more readily accessible and WAY cheaper, plus they don't eat their own bearings and cranks for lunch...
If I get bored of the M54B30 then I would rather sink my money into an ESS twinscrew supercharger and dish out hidings to M3's with a station wagon!:cartel:
