Later on you can sell it and get a 330D, I suspect you will have to pay in to much to do it now.

Hi Rolf, I have yes - Thank you very much. Yesterday afternoon we had the car hooked up to read the faults etc and to do some data logging. I will go back to the tuner when my cash flow has eased up a bit (month end and I can't wait anymore) to load the custom map.
I have decided to scrap all the detail I've heard from the various "fanbois" and make my own independent decision regarding a tuner. I chose using tuner experience, customer service and location. I've done a lot of digging, and choosing a tuner was very, very difficult. Harder than what I thought it would be.
To me it came down to (in no particular order)
STO
GTSR
Promotec
CPI
From the above 4 I could not make a decision as they all offered what I was looking for in a tuner (someone to walk the walk with me and help in my knowledge of the car), so then the next deciding factor was price - and one of the above had/has a special running and that sealed the deal. Keep in mind I was not bargain hunting but was prepared to pay more for quality. In fact of the above I did not choose the cheapest, even though it's currently on special.
Surprisingly Revo, Giac, Racetec and some others fell off the map after I first spoke to them because I want individual attention as well :fencelook:

Keep in mind I don't know how to drive this car to get the best out of it in terms of a TLGP as the launch control is something to get used to. I have even been told the best is to not launch and use DSG while others have said, launch control at 2000 rpm etc. :flyfun:
Rolling a different story, because what more could you do than just floor it :rollsmile:

ESP off, brake, floor it and it will hold the revs at 2500rpm and drop the brakes when you have to go. Great feature from VW :thumbs:
MSM - I tend to disagree, not because I'm biased as I have one, but because to me it's the most fun I had in a car since my Jap Screamer. Yes I never owned any of the higher end BM's, but my BMW's did not have the fun factor of the GTI for sure, and that's probably because it's so well built tbh.msm said:You can never really lose to a GTI. Hi rolf! I did that software update on my 330d at agents smg yesterday,slight difference. Im ready for the downpipe and software,just need to find the time. Maybe i can give that gti a run thereafter

Perhaps elaborate a bit more on the boredom you referring to?

Also, it's not confined to high end BM's that I'm comparing the GTI to. After my little incident with my Cooper S (R53), I was almost ready to buy one. But coming from that (cheaper car) to the GTI just felt dull.
The GTI is a very, very good car - don't get me wrong. It's just that I don't find it a very exciting option. I think the very same of my Lexus IS250 - it serves a different purpose for me, as a practical family car - calling it a "sports sedan" is ludicrous . In the same way, the GTI does not appear to me as a exciting performance car. It's all down to personal preference when you're behind the wheel.
That said, I may still buy one in future, as I need a practical hatch soon or smallish SUV - but once again for a different purpose...
Also, why I stated that it's my opinion which I naturally don't expect everyone to agree with, so no hard feelings intended.
