Gearbox Service

[Le Boss X5]

Just a quick one - Came from P.E. to Cape Town and having the gearbox serviced at Triangle Transmission - I can have a gearbox cooler fitted to keep the gearbox oil temp down to about 90 deg that will make last longer - is this really necessary on the X5 - want to have it done tomorrow morning

IMHO yes , gearbox will not have roast oil to work with .
Manual or auto ?
Most autos need good cooling .

The e39 has an oil cooler for transmission oil, I don't see why they would remove it on the x5, makes no sense. I think these guys are trying to sell you Porky Pies!!!

Even as far as the E36's BMW have been issued with gearbox oil coolers on the auto's.
