gearbox problem

hey guys im struggling with my shift from 2nd to 3rd its misses 3rd and goes straight to 5th but this only happens after iv been using 5th for awhile if i dont use 5th i can shift from 2nd to 3rd no prob but when i use 5th for awhile say i put it in neutral the stick sits slihtly slanted towards 5th any ideas

Eish, I wish I could help on this one.

Try and get to a clutch and gearbox center and see what they reckon.

iv heard of even gb oil changes making a difference so wil look into that

Let me guess, E46 right? I had the same problem with my 330i 5spd box. Its a common problem, the spring that holds the shifter in neutral between 3rd and 4th gets stuck and the shifter leans towards 5th. Here's a link on bimmerforums discussing the problem, go to page 31.

I decided to swap in a 6spd instead of fix the 5spd, even though its an easy fix, the box has to come out though to fix it.
