A 130i manual is so rare. Like clean M rare I think. This thing sounds awesome with the performance exhaust.:chef:

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

It is fun indeed. My last tank's consumption has oddly risen by 2l/100kms :tiptoe:

Update time:

A bit delayed in updating, but towards the end of March, I had some time to try a little mod. At around 3000rpm, there is a bit of drone from the intake, I think it's partially to do with the BMWP Intake fitted, and also around this rpm where the 3-stage intake manifold adjusts from St2-St3 or whatever you want to call it.

So I did this:

Bare lid:

Deadened:

I was wondering if this might dampen some vibration / harmonics which may be causing the drone. During my brother's visit from Oz in April, he used the car exclusively, and clocked 2800kms of trouble-free motoring in 3 weeks. I've driven the car off and on since then, I can't honestly say that it has cured the drone, lol.

Oh well. It's still a cracking car to drive

That's all updates for now. I'm hoping to be able to attend the next Gymkhana / skidpan sessions hosted by BMW CCG. I'm itching to do some proper hooning again.

Update time:

At the beginning of this month, I attended the BMW CCG's Tarlton Gymkhana / Autocross. I had some pics from the day, but due to Photobucket's nonsense, I haven't been able to upload them. I'll investigate some other options when I get time.

In the meantime, here is a link to the write-up of the event:

BMW CCG Tarlton Autocross 2017

I had some good fun on the day, some technology issues / ID10T user errors with the GoPro as well, but nevertheless got some footage.

Here are my first 2 runs on the day:

Run #2:

Then more recently, I was doing my good deed for the day - going to tow a senior citizen's car to a mechanic. I was towing the car (Renault Modus), steered by my dad, and using one of those solid tow bars. Then in the space of about 5 seconds the following took place:

1) Right bend in the road
2) Dad forgot power steering doesn't work (not sure why, but anyway)
3) Modus not making the turn - heading towards a neighbours double garage and a fire hydrant.
4) Dad panicks, starts pumping brake pedal
5) Modus not stopping
6) Dad realises he was pumping the clutch pedal (oi vey...)
7) I make the call to apply brakes, stop both cars and sacrifice my back bumper
8) CRUNCH

Anyways, long story short, bumper is broken in a couple of places. I dropped the car off this morning to get checked out. They will assess the damage, and either repair, or replace with a new one.

It's unfortunate, but I'm trying to look at the lighter side of the situation, i'm sure it looked comical from outside.

Once I sort out a picture hosting solution I will update with pics...

Then, also in July, I was going a few good deeds, one of them was to help tow and old ladies car to a mechanic for repairs.

Long story short, went from this:

To this:

I sent the car to Greenstone Autobody (who also worked on the wife's X3), and they did a great job. The diffuser section was replaced, but the main bumper skin was repaired.

Following on from my successful steam clean of my Ute's seats, I decided to do the same on the 130i.

These seats (particularly the fronts), had a lot more gloss on them, so I was looking forward to the results.

Passenger seat before:

After cleaning and conditioning:

I also tackled the steering wheel:

After steam clean:

After conditioning:

Overall, happy with the results, however my steering wheel and gearknob are quite tired, so looking into options to further revitalise those bits, then the interior will be 100% again.

That's all news for now on this car... still enjoying it when I drive it. Need to enter a few more events before year-end I think :smilebounce:

Edit: no idea why the last pic is upside down?
