Fuel Issues!

Hi Guys

I recently purchased an E46 320i Individual auto,

I love it but its a guzzler!:nonono:

I also noticed that on after being parked, the car just swings when i try to start it, but if i leave the ignition on for a while before swinging, it starts fine, so there is obviously some sort of delay with the fuel getting to the injectors, or am i wrong?

I also noticed that the car is running slightly rich, the tailpipes are black withing 10 minutes of a good polishing:cry:, the average consumption according to the trip comp is 13-14 l/100 km, which translates into 500 km from a tank if im very lucky!

Mr Naidoo

Bout time you joined

As for the consumption, don't feel bad, My 323 Auto is sitting on 13.6, mostly short trips.

LOL yeah Yulz, good way to of keeping informed

ok but the thing is, I'm driving like a granny:biglol:

the only way i can get below 10 is if i roll around, soon as i go near the gas that momentary fuel consumption gauge jumps to the max!

Yeah same, I only get lower than 10 when I drive on N2 nearing ballito lol.

My econometer is permanently on 20 also :)

Auto + down tuned 6cyl is bad news :nonono:

I am new to BMWs, just bought a e46 325i auto which was averaging 12-13L/100KM. Thought this was not normal and I took it in to a specialist, cost an arm and a leg but now after getting it back, having changed the fuel filter, some fuel sensors and some other stuff (will have to check the list), I am averaging 7.5L/100KM without even getting into a freeway.

Awesome stuff!:bravo:

Any chance you could let me know what was changed?

From other threads it seems like the fuel filter is the most likely cause.
