Fuel contamination

Hi guys,

I am from Mozambique and recently we had a fuel contamination which killed fuel pumps of lots of cars. My car is starting to have problems but I am not sure if it is the same and what i should do now maybe not to have to change the fuel pump. When i start it in the morning or aftr a long time the revs go down and the engine shudders a bit for a few seconds but then it goes away. It also happens when I am stop for sometime while on "D". So please tell me guys would it be that my fuel pump is going away? And if so, isn´t there anything I can do to save it?
Some guy spoke about some products to pour in the fuel tank that will clean the pump.

Help please guys.
The car does not fail or hesitate when I accelerate.

We have a 530i that had a bad fuel pump as a direct result of bad quality fuel (we don't have much of a choice in malawi). Cold starts in the morning were lethargic, car took an eternity to wake up. The fuel pump gave up on a road trip where the car kept cutting off but would come back to life after 5minutes of rest. :thumbdo:

So instead of the fuel pump you think I should change the filter? Is that it? I´ve asked the name of the products to the guy, I´ll let you know. He said they´re for sale at any gas station for around R 100.

well if the filter gets gummed up the pump has to work harder so you could save the pump... it all depends on what was in the fuel... the filter is quite cheap and easy the change so definitely worth a try...

What exactly was the fuel contaminated with?

Knowing this will help us advise as to what you can do.

"The Guy" Is more than likely talking about a fuel conditioner or "fuel cleaner" to put into the tank.

+1 on the filter replacement to narrow the search.
