Fuel Consumption on an E90 323i HELP

easy driving i was getting on average 11km to a liter
on a trip down to ballito i got an average of 15km to a liter
if i put foot and drove it hard then roughly 9/10 km per liter
great cars,and much better than a 320i,more power
also heard the 320 is heavier than the 323i on fuel

323i is a very nice car and I love the sound of the inline 6...
When my car usually went in for a service I would get a 320i and yes being a 4cyl doesn't have the power and driven the same as my 323i it was way heavier on fuel.
Around 130k km as Herr mentioned I had to replace my waterpump so if car is still under MP see if you can get them to replace it for you otherwise pump alone you looking at around R5,500.00
Yes the 320d has got great power but it's your choice if you want a tractor or a i6

323i sounds sexy, fuel on the 320i can be lower but dependant on your foot, can be heavier also. i personally ahve had good fuel consumotion compared to other 320i's, my bro-in-law had a 2006 323i m-sport, loved the car, fuel was a bit heavy but he bought it for the enjoyment and drove it like you would normally do, he moved to a diesel afterwards so a 6 cylinder is a cylinder and isnt light on gas...but the 320 dependant on model and driving style etc can be lighter.

Try to get the Manual if you can, this AT is old-school, even the mechanic from Pinetown BMW told me its not one of the best 'boxes..
My front shocks had to be replaced at about 90 000km, under plan, and the cost if i remember correctly was more than R 9000, so look at that. Make sure the rain sensor is not damaged, as mine is, as a new windscreen is quite pricey.
My 2006 323i m sport (130K) Consumption very much depends on the driving conditions: Open Road 120-140km/h @ 7l/100km. Urban driving is less colourful though as I struggle to get better than 12l/100 in heavy traffic. That said - I am slightly heavy footed

A service at Tune Tech costs about R2300 (oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter + labour).
I've done this every 10 000 km. I bought the car in 2011 with 100 000 km.
Water pump failed at about 120 000 km - had it replaced at Tune Tech cost R10 600 for water pump thermostat (both OEM) and labour.
I love my car, its wonderful! Its correct!

I would love to upgrade to a 330i, simply because I have a lust for power and I can't afford to maintain an M car, so I figure a 330i or Z4 3.0 si would be awesome.

just a quick question....
open road doing 100-110km\h i get 9.5l\100km or worse...
what could be the cause of that?...oil, plugs and oil filter were changed 500kms ago???

Could be a failing sensor. I had a similar problem at 114K when the mass airflow meter failed - this adjusts the air fuel mixture and is crucial to consumption. Take it to a dealer to put on the diagnostic machine- be careful though because apparently the MAF Sensor, O2 and other all show the same code - All expensive so make sure they replace the correct one and not all of them.
