I know this thread is old but here's my observation:

Car: 2008 e90 320i Manual, 98kms.
Fuel: Shell 95UL. Filled up from reserve with 54L - done 615km and not hit reserve yet.
Condition: 4 adults, loaded boot, A/C always on, windows closed, tire pressure to manuf. spec.
Speed: 120-160 (avg 140)

This was done this past weekend going to Citrusdal and surrounds.
I'm not moaning but this is blerrie good considering hills, a/c, overtaking, etc.

my 2005 E90 320i manual had an average of 8.7 l/100km when i first had it from 40000km

after complete engine rebuild (210000km), adding in a cone filter induction with heat shield and removing the cats i now average 7.8

throttle response and tone is amazing and on the long travels i get down to 6.5 l/100km

Been reading this. My 320i auto got 13.5 - 14.5.

320d is on 10.8. I'm really struggling to believe nothing's wrong as I've been told.

F30 320d 2013 auto
In town just with traffic 6.5L/100km
highway sticking to speed limit 5.2L/100km at 120km/h to 130km/h
Doing some private track testing it goes up to 7.0L/100km
if you drive at constant speed +/- 100km/h to 110km/h from Cape Town to Hermanus you achieve 4.8L/100km

Go diesel you wont look back for its the best of both worlds. I owned 2 325i petrol BMWs. Yes you will miss the sound of that 6 cylinder but when you put your foot down and feel the torque you look at the consumption you will smile all the way

My dad has a e90 320i 2010 auto and its avarage is about 9.8 town and highway normal driving.
Sister has e46 318i 2001 auto model and its at about 10.5 town and highway

my 320i does +-8L/100km in highway and city, once i go faster than 120km/h, the economy goes to 12l/100km. if i remember correctly 110km/h gives you the best fuel economy

correction, mine does 9L/100km on average

320d E90 > 320i E90 (period)

320d F30 = 320i F30 (close enough, taking into account price diff)

Yeah....uhm....I still don't get why ppl bought the 320i E90 when the 320d was out there with more kW, better performance, better economy....just better in all departments.

The F30 is a diff story. BMW upped the ante with the 320i F30 quite a lot. In the F30 build, the "i" compares a lot better with the "d", and given that the "i" is a bit cheaper, and some ppl just (misguidedly...hehe) don't like diesels, I can fully understand someone choosing the F30 320i, but not the E90 320i.

Hi everyone, this is like my first post in this forum ei.
Test drove a 2009 E92 Coupe, Sports Pack, 6Speed Manual, Alpine White III, Beemer with 158km. It's going for R140k, retail is R135k. Service history till 147km, so it's due for a service soon.

Added the two year unlimited warranty & two year unlimited services, & a Tracking unit. So might end up costing about R155k.

Took a test drive on the high way with a seriously heavy right foot. The car has not much torque so I had to change down allot. Anyway we drove for a total of 60km & the screen showed 8.7l/100km.

However, gave SavSpeed a call today, got lucky and spoke to Sav himself! (Tune Tech didn't pick up btw). I want to service my beemer with a tuner.

Sav told me not to buy the 320i as it has allot of issues. & it's weak AF. Said I should rather buy a 325 instead. He currently has one at his shop for R180k (or was it R190k???) But it doesn't have the Sports Pack:(

Taking the Holy Ghost (320i) to SavSpeed on Monday to do a complete test & diagnostics. Before I sign on the dotted line.

Or should I just wait for a 325i Coupe to drop in value and buy one in December???? Only keen on Sports packs. Budget is 150/70K (all inclusive) insurance is about R1400pm/R5000 excess all comprehensive.

Please help me decide. So confused right now.
