Fuel Consumption - E90 320i

I'm not trying to save on fuel here...but since I started this thread, without trying to drive any different to the way I usually drive, the consumption seems to be reducing.

When I got the car back from the machy, the onboard was jumping around because the battery was disconnected. So it need to calculate my average consumption after I have driven for a while.

It settled on 10.3, which then turned to 10.2.

I have driven more than usual over the weekend past and in last week. Consumption this morning was on 10.0l/100km.

I'm not complaining, but would love to see the car dip into the 9's :thumb:

Like I said, 141 000 and a bit kms on the clock. manual 6 spd, 4 pot N46 valvetronic motor.

What is it with the E90's? Many people that have them are finding them to be heavy on Juice. Did BMW do something wrong on them?

Just from my families cars i noticed that they are heavy, heavier than my 330 with my driving.

My uncle had a E90 330i Auto, on long runs he averaged over 11l/100km. Town runs was insane at over 15l/100km.
My FIL and another uncle had 323i's, averages where more than the 330. Also auto...

They have all sold the E90's and bought E46's to run around with. I have heard no complaints of consumption now. Same type of driving, all auto's, averages are around 11/100km for town driving and below 9l/100km for long runs.

'08 e 90 320i auto - had vehicle for 7 weeks now. Sticking to speed limit - mixed driving: 8.7 l per 100 km, freeway: 6.8 l and town: 10.5 l. Moral of the story: e 90 320i auto made for leisurely cruising on freeways

I stay in the Eastern Cape. Traffic on freeways is a rumour here. Also I do not see how quick I can get from 0 - 40 / 60 in town and 0 - 120 on freeway. Did so initially and it killed my wallet. I have 16's. No extras except towbar and Satnav / idrive.

I have a 323i and I am getting between 10l/100km and 13l/100km 10 is more for mixed driving 12 to 13 is full town. 6 to 6.5 on long drive

I personally believe the problem with the 320i's consumption is its lack of power. You have to be a lot heavier with your foot to drag that heavy body around more so than with any of the 6's

So moral of the story if you want to buy a BMW to save petrol by a diesel don't buy a 320i

Well i think the 320i is super light on the freeway, it definitiley is efficient once i gets momentum, traffic, you right about, no using that car in traffic but then if you look at the figures here, the 320i does the same or similiar traffic figures to all other 6'ers as well, bar the E46 ones.

E46 325i gets 11L/100km in town and on the Freeway 8.3L/100km. Just note I put pedal to the metal in town and No wonder I got 3 outstanding speed fines
