My sister had it for 3 yrs....

Bought it at 40kms....traded it in just before Mplan expired

Not a day's trouble mechanically

One of the speakers blew (sorted out by BM)

Other than that...nothing

Did Joburg to EC about 5 or 6 times......not bad on gas as well

For the wife its perfect.... (It's not a Powerhouse)

Thanks sniper, does seem like awsome little car. It isnt a 335 but its got a bit of grunt in sport mode.

Also had one actually a 2012 model too. Good car, no real issues with the car. Engine is a bit noisy to my liking, but power is good. Car was traded in at around 70k kms on a F30 LCI.

If looked after these are nice car. :=):

My wife has one currently.
No issues, engine is a bit loud as said above but overall a great car and extremely underrated powerwise.

I would love to see the look on people's faces as they plant their foot from the line.really gets going.

I had a 118i a few months back. It was a really good car to be honest. It sounded like a diesel on cold start, but no complaints. I traded mine in for something that looked a little better, as I never had the msport package, but other than that, I really didn't have much of an issue. Got me to where I needed to be, in sport mode it had enough omph for overtaking quickly. I actually sort of miss it now, looking back :blueCry:

I don't know anyone who has a current gen 1er that isn't happy apart from that engine noise (I guess it is the nature of modern high comp DI motors). One of my staff has an LCI 120i, one of my mates has a pre-LCI 118i and I had a 320i with the B-series motor for a week. They are supposed to be stronger than the N series motors despite the noise LOL. I could live with any of the above as a communter car

Thanks guys I considered the advice and collected my car on friday, I drove it for around 100km tested sport and sport +, very enjoyable, then all of a sudden I received a warning on the I drive screen of a transmission fault must be taken to bmw immediately, switched car of and restarted warning gone but I noticed gears changes in sport are now very harsh, a bit concerned as I experienced this previously with my GTI DSG. Any advice?
