Forged Rod and Pistons

Hello to all! My motor is locked, my mechanic told me what happened, lacked oil because the pump stopped working and so the engine caught and broke a connecting rod, so now I need to buy a new set of rods and pistons too, someone I can suggest a brand of rods and forged pistons good quality?

I found these on Ebay rods, but do not know if they are trustworthy.

Is your car turbo charged?

If my memory serves me correct, you have the M42 - M44 engine.

before you get shiny bits are you sure that this is all that needs to be replaced?

often it cheaper to buy a full engine than rebuild... I honestly dont see the point of spending money on aftermarket internals here unless you going to build for high RPM or boost it

aftermarket pistons are built for a different use and not be best choice for a stock engine...

Yes Buddy I drive a E36 318i, not turbo but that is in the future plans.

The VAC I already met. Specialized BMW performance, look pretty good.

very much doubt that if your engine "caught" and broke a rod, that rods and pistons are all that engine needs to get running again.. block and crank probally toast too..

Gotta pay to play unfortunately.... I'm sure there are cheaper solutions. But I'm not sure I'd trust a cheaper solution in my car when boosting it. I know how addictive boost is, and with a turbo application, things just get more complicated. And its so easy to say "oh, I'm only boosting 0.8 bar." It takes one race at the lights to make you decide to up the boost. And before you know it, you sitting on 1.5 bar, or even 2 bar... And thats when shit hits the fan.

I'm not trying to defend why I said got with CP. I just believe if you going to build a turbo car, you build it right the first time. And you build a reliable engine that will drive everyday on 300wkw and not worry about breaking rods.

I agree with your opinion, if you want to make anything, do the best way, not the cheap...

checked with the VAC and the price goes for $ 999 + shipping, I think is good to me... for now.

the "gotta pay to play" is all very well and good. but everyone says there is a turbo conversion in the future. when is the future, in 1 month, 2 years, never? so now you are stuck with a car running turbo compression, with no turbo, so it drives terrible.

considering it is going to cost R30000 for the parts, and whatever needs to be done to fix the engine + labour, plus the cost of the turbo conversion, you are looking at R60000+. then it's brakes, clutch, suspension, etc, etc and you looking at a R100K build

the smart and proper way to do this is to buy a replacement 318 engine for kak cheap, and rebuild your old one when the actual time comes.
