Also be wary of these "Guaranteed buy back" deals, there is bound to be small print related to this process.

I heard of a story where someone bought a 3-series on this plan. When it came time to give the car back, they essentially walk around the whole car to inspect it...

"Oh, I see a scratch on the bottom of the front bumper, we will have to respray the entire bumper, R5k".

"Scratch on door - another R5k".

"Wheels have scratches - need to be repaired, R8k".

Something along those lines, but they literally nitpicked every little thing. At the end of the day, they guy was offered R60-70k LESS THAN the guaranteed buy back price.

This is the real reality of all these deals. It’s not as rosy as the dealership make you believe. We’ve written a detailed article explaining exactly this issue with Agility finance from MB. https://www.wheelindex.co.za/blog/h...agility-finance-work?id=xFszssBEu4qAOsuogQgs0

You don’t just “jump” into a new car at the end.

Nice blog. I found it very informative

Nonsense.

People buying and not reading is the problem.

Of course you are gonna get offered less if your car did some township plowing or pavement eating.

The same goes for a lease. It is expected that the car is well cared for. Cracks and chips are not going to be tolerated nor a teared up underside.

It's impossible to drive a vehicle for 3 years as a daily without getting any nicks/scratches anywhere, even stone chips is common to get without putting in much effort. Just do one long distance trip and get caught driving behind a truck. So many of these issues you get is from normal use of the vehicle. Curb rash on wheels and big panel repairs are obviously for your account.

I agree to read the fine print, but some dealerships expect you to return them a brand new vehicle and will nit pick the vehicle.
