Hi Ettiene,

Its pretty straight forward to fit it. If I had spare time I could do it for you, should take half a hour max.
Why don't you do it at a place with a dyno and you can do a before and after for us curious beings.

Regards,

G

Just remember we are not all as "smooth" as you when it comes to DIY

That is excellent idea, but where?

I think give the places with dynos a call and see who will do it whilst you wait as its not such a long job. Then you can witness the before and after and you on your way. Try Tunetech, Chiplogic, KAR, Snail, Savspeed etc.
I have seen a car with the Dinan pulley which is more conservative than the Evosport make 4wkw.

Down in Durbz, we get the BMW dealership to fit it. Might be worth a shot if you have a relationship with the service manager of your dealership.

Xpower what kind of gains can be expected at the reef?

Well at sea-level one car gained 1kw and the other car lost 1kw. I think one was the Rogue pulley and the other was the Evosport. Can't remember which 1 gained and which 1 lost. I lost interest when I checked 1kw stories.

i read that a v8 gains 14hp atw with the pulley?
i am sure they quote similar for the v10?

The pulleys power the A/C compressor, power steering pump, water pump and alternator. If you read BMW's press release when the V8 M3 was released, you will see that a new feature on their efficient dynamics campaign is the Brake Energy Regeneration system, very much like Formula One's KERS system.

So during braking & overrun, the battery is being charged. And when your foot is flat the alternator is disengaged. So tell me, what benefit would one derive from under-driving the alternator, if it's already disengaged under full throttle? So you gonna' steal a few hp from the power steering and Ac, etc, but at what expense? I don't know if the Yank markets have this feature, maybe not. And maybe the alternator is the major source of power draw and hence the gains when the Yanks dyno.

The moral of the story? Don't go re-seaching stuff on American forums when there might be a few local companies that have tested all of these with our European spec cars under our conditions with our fuel. It might end up being an exercise in futility.

Yeah, I maybe it works in the US, I don't know. Doesn't work here. Racefuel also seems to be a waste of money on the ///M.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your input, and you may have saved me a fortune on future damages to my engine.

Bottom line - I am not fitting the power pulley.

I dont get why you not fitting it? The pulley does not work the same as with the V8 M3. Maybe you misunderstood XPowers post.

100% George. It may well work on an M5. Snail can fit it for you and dyno before and after.
