First love all over again

Let me put it this way, I drive my modified E34 540 seriously gently.

I'm well over that "phase" where I drive everywhere at like 180Km/H, I'm now all well behaved and responsible. This week I was a bit worried about the 540i as the engine had been behaving badly, and I was concerned something was wrong.

Decided to go for a drive today, and for the first time in a year I seriously "nailed" this car to give the engine a hard run as I think there's some cobwebs in there.......

Hehehehe, damn, lol F*&$K!.......... I forgot just how well those mods work, hehehe, can you see the grin from here.

:):):):):):):):):):):):)

I love this E34 540i all over again... All that work was worth it

Lz you have to see this car. It is perfectly clean, and that leather cladded dash looks wicked.

Well, Rick540 has been stingy with photos, but we discussed it some, and it sound just farking amazing.

I saw those dash photos, and listening to some of those mods, it is what mine is aspiring to be :)

I should have given Jandre a ride in the car yesterday, was intending to but I had to rush off to work.

Promise I'll be at the next CPT meet, and took lots of pics today (Mostly of my E39) but promise to show.

When Jandre finally has his 540 sorted, I will do a custom dash for him, thinking about making each one unique so as each is one of a kind. I love BMW's and I have a skill, so for only a couple of enthusiasts I do this :)

Actually, one of my dreams is..

I am going to retrofit a E65 interior into a E34, I know its way to big, its going to be a wiring nightmare, if not impossible, and its a stupid time consuming thing to do... but I dont care :)

If I get the green light this week on the gearbox, I will bring her through over the weekend Rick. I am so excited about this new interior, I just want to get it into the car.

I was looking at my white paintwork this morning, and it is looking seriously sad. So, although I am fanatic about paintwork, I have to admit that I am no expert when it comes to paint renovation. I borrowed my father in law's polishing machine, and he gave me some medium rubbing compound. I tried a section of the bonnet this evening, first a nice rubdown with the rubbing compound (by hand), and then some mirrawax (cheap, I know)(also by hand), and the result is extremely noticable. I think I will be able to renovate some of the paint.

I do need to ask though: I have some tar on the bodywork(actually quite a bit). What product can I use to remove it? I'm scared to get too vigorous with the rubbing compound.

Jandre,

Find out if you have a sonax franchise close to you, they do decent work for around R350. This should clean it up, and put some protection back onto it.

Save the full detail for when the car is done.

Jandre, Holts make a really nice tar remover, works well and is very gentle on the paint, any spares place sells it.

Much better than rubbing compound is any "restorative wax", just carefull of any corners with the machine, you can go crazy on the flat surfaces safely, but watch the corners.

Next week end is a long weekend, I have time. If you can get the box sorted , bring her over and I will make sure your seats are going in! As you see I have all the tools and it's a quick job, also sort that airbag light for you with the DIS machine.

squeeking of DIS, how goes your construction project of the ADS cables :)

I have a new design, ADS only interface. As soon as I get a break in a few weeks when work slows down and can focus on my overdue electronics projects, I'll etch a few boards and sell them as kits.
