First Accident/Rear Ending - What do I do?

Yes - and brokers are probably stuck between clients leaving because of premium hikes or offering lower premiums but then being underwritten by junk-grade companies. Having (from a distance) seen this exchange, it turns into a lot of work for the broker.

Imagine paying that low premium and when the time comes to claim you're stuck without a car for 3 months (or worse, they find a reason not to repair) 🙃
For this my broker has been elite, actually can't even recall where on this forum I found him. He's quick, efficient, fights for me and is always honest and open.

Marcel Snyman at Carmen Financial, I'm extremely happy with him.

As a broker, I can say you are 100% correct, it does turn into a lot of work.

Only difference is we make sure we don't have any proper junk-grade companies that we deal with so either way our clients are covered. Just some insurers will take a bit longer to get a claim sorted etc.

But either way we always try to give the best service and products to our clients

I feel like insurers have gotten MUCH worse the past few months in terms of trying to avoid paying as well as how they are trying to have sub-standard repairs done. Also had another mate underwritten by dotsure (the broker changed underwriters from hollard for some bizarre reason and he didn't pay much attention to it at the time). They literally didn't know what they were doing and were not even listening to the logic presented by the broker. 3 assessors and many ombudsman threats later, they admitted that they had messed up and STARTED repairs months later... not before making him somehow pay a portion of the excess upfront. I would not have believed it if I didn't see the mail trail. It would have been a nightmare if he didn't have other cars.

If anyone is underwritten by Dotsure for vehicle insurance they should IMMEDIATELY switch IMHO. Let them stick to pet medical aid.
As a point of interest, Hollard sold their direct channel personal lines book to Dotsure a few years back. This is probably the reason for the change in underwriters in your friend's case and it's less likely that the broker was at fault.

My GF has had the misfortune of having multiple claims on her car and majority of them were via Naked insurance and the experience has not been bad at all.
The biggest issue we have experienced is with the quality of work carried out by the panel beaters and that has also always been the biggest delay as their stated time for the car to be completed and the actual time it takes to complete the car is often very different.

The one time she was without a vehicle for 8 weeks and the last time 6 weeks, however in both situations Naked paid for the vehicle hire for the full duration until she got her car back. I think she has had around 5 claims on her vehicle, I am surprised they have not increased her premiums or written the car off yet. Its an old 2010 i20, not a very high value car...
