Quite a bit of work has been on the car in terms of engine preventative maintenence. I'm quite padentic about every aspect of my cars being in order. In preperstion for the race day that passed, I decided to start on the engine 1 month earlier.
I picked up a miss fire in cylinder 4, cleared the codes and it returned. BOOSTED and NAUSH335 were kind enough to assist with spare coils for us to begin testing and swooping coils around.
Moe from Auto-xessorise really went out his way as usual to help me out and diagnose the problem. We swoped coil from cyclinder to cyclinder 1, and sure as hell the misfire moved to that cylinder immediately on startup.
While we talking about coils, Bmw wanted R900 for 1 bosch coil. MOE arranged the same bosch coil for R300. On advise from Twinz, whom I trust whole heartedly with almost every aspect of my car, I changed all 6 could one time.
Whilst doing that, Moe assisted in fitted my new spark plugs as well. I opted to go with the colder NGK plug which he gapped for me as well. Plugs were obtained from revo@rennzport. On a side note, bmw refused to change the plugs as well, which had been in the car for roughly 30 000km.
Old plugs
New ngk iridium plugs
Next up was changing the tapit cover gasket, the oil filter housing gaskets and installing vanos solonoids. Again Rennzport stepped up to the plate and arranged a great pricing on the vanos solonoids and saved me some cash.
I can safely say that I'm absolutely happy with the car goes now, moreso then even before I bought it.
One aspect of the car I haven't documented here, is the modding of the car in terms of performance. My wife really doesn't understand it and as she duly pointed out, " You don't drive fast or race, so why make it faster???
Answer " Because I can!!! "
I'll document the mods that have been done, the ups and downs, and finally get to where she stands as is.
Thanks for reading.
