Hi Guys and gals

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have, well i drive a e90 320i at 2006 model, just want a little better engine sound either filter or exhaust wise, at the moment am thinking to do a open cone filter with a heat shield or still a after market kit but an enclosed cylinder like the one found on autostyle eg universal kit, but now what makes me wonder is how to install it ,would i have to remount the maf sensor and then from there put reducers etc to filter or? ? ?

2nd would be to do exhaust, dont want anything massive so was considering an off centre backbox with a nice tail piece .

Can accept any advice, just please no funny comments thanks

This issue has been hashed and rehashed all over the world !!!
the 320 was not designed for sport purposes.

adding anything aftermarket, or removing anything stock, will NOT provide anything (in terms of decent gains) if anyone has done something and received any (decent) gains, I have a 320 at home that i wouldn't mind giving some extra horses.....but alas....no one has.

So. instead of giving (bad) advice that will only make the vehicle sound better, and possibly cause some damage latter....I will prefer to tell the truth.

Rather spend the money on cosmetics.
at least then you have good looking ride.

Relax bra, if you read the okes post, he wants his car to sound nice, not to take on a M3. Heck I put a FF on my 1300, and it sounded nice.

Remember its his car, if he wants to make it sound nice, then help the oke.

Hey bud.

Exhaust should bring out a bit of sound, but I would also suggest going all out with a full de-cat, branch and free flow. Give the guys at Viper performance a call, they know their stuff

If you want's any sort of engine sound coming out you'll have to go for a cone filter, and to balance it all out do a chip or software for your car. Cone alone shouldn't cost too much, but a propper intake kit (Injen or AFE) is gonna set you back more than it's worth on your car.

The main thing to understand is that your car won't show much power gains, mostly sound "gains"

I have not owned a 320i but most people seem to claim that it's a bit underpowered so most upgrades won't do much.

Hey guys, well i used to own a seat before my 320i and previously citi golfs which was done to the max with mods, the faster of the bunch was my seat which i can say there is no better sports car thats affordable, now i got a family i wanted more comfort than speed but due to the background do just want a small purr from the car, speed etc on the 320i i can say is all i need, i will still be putting on some 19"s but want a nice sound to follow.

Now i dont mind opinions showed in my thread am used to that from the seat sport club, am new by this forum and if all goes well can join on the events.
So far the decat does seem like a nice option coz that wont be costly, did think about filter but dont want to tamper with the maf etc,so think more decat and an offcentre backbox, did think of free flow BUT at end of the day am not going to be racing it,just want to bring out the standard side of things.

What you guys think?

Hey bud. On this forum you will get jokes and you must take anything to heart. The guys mean well.
Basically what they are saying is the E90 320i is entry level and getting certain mods done will be a waste of your money.
Decat is your best option. After the decat is done, you will find out for yourself the diff in sound and then you should decide what to do next.
Good luck
