Howzit guys

I am toying with the option to add this as one of the services we can offer at VPS Randburg. I have made contact with a talented installer who can do pretty much anything in terms of boot and in-car installs and looking to incorporate this into our services offered.

We will aim to offer the best quality products at the best possible prices and obviously the quality if the install will need to be up to my standards.

Just for interest sakes, what would you guys think? Is there a market for this?

Kind regards

Kuvi

I don't think there is a massive market for this, since warranty would be in issue in most cases. This is just IMO.

If you already got the premises and its not gonna cost you much more, I think it can be a service that you can consider especially if the workmanship is great as well as the service.

You name has been trusted with the great work you do in the Vehicle Protection space...

Venturing in that field should be a great opportunity

Point made about warranty...but you able to cater for cars not affected by it as well....

Luck with the Venture

Well I can speak only for myself but .......

I would say yes, in Pretoria I was looking over the holidays for a place to do a custom sound install and there was only one place that did an exceptional job ....not talking about your backyard guys.... but was quoted like R5K and then I even supply all the stuff.....ridiculous

But yes I will pay for something like that as with me I have idrive and with that said installing an aftermarket amp into the car can be of some headache

So from me, YES

i would say yes, although there are many installers out there, why some guys charge R2500 upwards to install an amp, splits and a sub is beyond me, especially if i provide all equipment.

I think there is a market for this, if pricing is reasonable however. Especially for those who are out of MP and want to improve on the std weak (IMO - shoddy) BMW systems. Pricing will be key though.

I speak for myself here but after a while this whole sound thing wears off.

Right now i would like upgrade kits. Taking a cars stock housing with minimal modifications to get a nice sounding system.

Maybe start with models like 1 series, 3 series, 5 series and make up your own bolt on kits like the Ground Zero upgrades.

I will be interested in that

Exactly this!!
This is the future....im looking at importing a GZ bolt on kit for my 1er, but current exchange rate is making me wait a while

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Your comments will all be taken into consideration.

It looks like we will ge going ahead with venture. I will be doing a small install in my car as a demo to will document the process.

With regards to the kits for upgrade I will look into it but will also need to check with dealerships about the implecations on the warranties. We definitely dont want those who still have active warranties to have any issues.

My install has been booked and I will post up pics as we go along. Mind you that this will be with the intention of still having a fully functioning boot with ample boot space.

I fitted 3 amps, swapped all front speakers and added 1 10" sub and a processor. Dealer still swapped radio under MP when line noise became an issue with the old radio. I think the trick is not to tap into factory wiring but most importantly one should remember that not all dealers are reasonable and practical.
