Thoughts on wife mobile/baby transporter

Congrats Fil! Enjoy the new blessing.

So we've been in a similar boat since my daughter arrived early last year. My X3 gets used for every family trip. Fortunately we work from home so not a lot of mileage gets added on anyway other than the 101 airport trips for grandparents. I am like you and very OCD about both cars so it killed me in the early days with the liquid shits but fortunately only the baby seat got hit. She's been so well behaved int he car since without any messy incident *touch wood*.

The Mini only gets used when either of us are driving alone or the wife is taking baby somewhere on her own. The baby seat fits comfortably in the rear with ISOFIX but it's obviously not a practical car where the pram bottom literally just fits in the boot (the car seat fits into the pram thankfully) and my wife will never admit it since she is so in love with her JCW and refuses to take my X3.
We are worse off as it is a 2 door hatch. You're in a far better position and can probably manage for a while until finances allow for a replacement to tick your power requirement. I say give the wife the X3 and rough it out with the Ford daily until you can't take it anymore.

I scrapped my idea of a bakkie as a 3rd vehicle and rather replace the Mini whether the wife approves or not as it makes sense to have 2 daily vehicles that can do baby duty and the 3rd car should be something fast and fun when finances allow for it.
