Fan issue on 330i E46

Hey guys, experienced the weirdest problem. Parked my car in the parking at work this morning...about 8 o'clock. Went out to the car at lunch time and found that the radiator fan is running. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

The resistor that controls the speed of the fan has packed it in. You can live with unplugging it (to save the battery) when you park till you source a new or used one. Else you will be doing what the Landy drivers do so much of - pushing
