Almost time for the first DIY service of my e36. :)

Busy getting the odds and ends - is there a difference
between generic and BMW official oil filters?

It is a well known fact that service items from the dealers are cheaper then the spares shop.

Go price OEM, you will see that :)

I pay less for the big e34 540i airfilter at the dealer than a smaller e36 328i air filter at a spares shop .
Also as a fanatics member you may get a 15 % discount at the dealer...wear your cap....tell the spares salesman you are the man...:thumbs:

When it comes to the cabin pollen filter, I get that from Goldwagen, as this item is far cheaper than the agents for my E46.

Same here, although the BMW filter does seem to be of a better build quality than the Goldwagen one. Bonnet shocks (more than a year ago) were R155 each at Goldwagen vs about R1100 at the agents... admittedly the one packed up within a year but it's a huge difference in price.
