Looks like the cylinder head with camshafts was changed from part number:

Looks like the VANOs was changed from:

Looks like the crank was changed in that year from:
11 21 0 301 483
to
11 21 0 304 426
My word the conrods were changed from:

My word the coils were changed in '05:

Not to mention the DME was changed to the CSL one, which is much faster and and has twice the capacity of the pre-facelift DME.
That's just a quick check without going into detail. Darrin, can you confirm the changes by looking at those parts numbers. Looks like almost everything in the engine besides the pistons changed, the DME, the coils and even that intake tue in the brake duct. And you guys wonder if there's a power difference?
