F80 M3 Tappet Cover Replacement

Good afternoon guys,

Just thought I'd ask for some advice. I need to do a tappet cover replacement on my F80 M3 due to the gasket leaking. Apparently there's an oil breather inside the cover that gets clogged and therefore I need to replace the cover. Can the oil breather be cleaned out or is it advisable to replace the cover. Have anyone done this job and do you guys have any advice? I'm buying the spares from the agents but if there's any advice for an alternative supplier then place let me know. I'm in the Cape town area.

Good afternoon guys,

The breather pipe can be cleaned with pressure and a good degreaser. Purchased Elring gaskets from Master Parts ( was told Elring is OE for BMW Euro ) and it sorted out the leak problem only because the cover was not warped. These covers warp over time with heat in the engine compartment. 22k kms later no hint of any kind of leak.

Also was told at the time that a EuroMann complete cover was available from Goldwagen at approx half the cost from BMW. Never got to use it so not sure of the quality.
