Sorry man :( I nearly got taken out in a similar way by a lady in a VW Transporter panel van last friday. Was Hendrik Potgieter near the shell garage/Green & Gold My turn to go across. 2 lanes coming down from Hendrik Potgieter stopped and I started to go across. She decides not to stop or brake... like at all... and then takes her hands off the steering wheel as she realises what is happening. If I was distracted by my phone or something else for a split second I may not be typing this right now.

Very glad you are OK.

A great escape for you there!

Sorry man, glad you guys are OK!

Looks minor but easily 100k+ if done through an ARC.

Just seen a quote from an ARC and it's R137k to fix her up!

I wonder if insurance will opt to pay for the repairs considering that the value of the car is +/- R280k (I think).

I always thought that they write it off if the repairs exceed 70% of the cars insured value?

Thats what they did on both our cars in December .

thats very tight...all depends on value..usually 50%

It depends on the insurer but it's generally around 70/75%.

Glad you are all well......it's a safe car in many respects...

Ja just make sure it's an ARC if you in motor plan ..... Then you have proper recourse...

It was not a walk in the park for me with a previous car... Lyndhurst now sand ton arc.... They replicated the paint to the tee...however the assembly was poor and had to take the car back in for the bonnet to be realigned with the bumper and two side panels as the bonnet failed to open after two days from me picking it up. Problem was sorted out quickly though and have to give them credit for that.

All the arc's seem to be very busy so it can be a waiting game.

As I type this, my new M3 of under 10 days is with auto body specialists in Midrand(I believe they were the Midrand arc back in the day) as the dealership that I took my car to for the 2000km service washed it with bore hole water and left it to sundry....waterspots all over....as the filter for the water was not changed....I threw a fit:RedNo::RedNo:

Again, the dealer came to the party and arranged for auto body to sort it out. Chatted to the guys and they explained the procedure to me and am more comfortable now.... Have used a bit of clay and lub during the weekend on the glass and was able to remove it easily...I don't have the skill/knowledge/time for paintwork..

BMW service.....:smashScreen::smashScreen::smashScreen:

You tend to forget these issues when you drive the cars though...

So between the xenon control unit, headlamp module, bulb and actual headlamp you're looking at 30k+vat for a light. Ouch.

it seems they chose to replace everything in pairs....L+R

fender liner, foglight carrier, gas press spring etc... good in one way, but your premium ends up suffering....

I blame the assesors though.., some are so finicky, others dont give a f#$k

ask for your old parts except hinges and bumper seeing that they replacing stuff in pairs so there will be usable parts to sell.

Assessor will probably look at that quote and have them remove a lot of parts from there..parts that are not damaged etc They do that sometimes .

and on closer inspection, knowing your own car, are there any obvious signs of a repair ?

Haven't noticed anything yet except that the front end looks too neat for a 4 year old bimmer!
