F30 335i oil consumption

Thanks for the feedback guys - I'll mention it to the SA when I take it in, and see what they say about the oil consumption. I'm somewhat comforted by others having to fill up though, and no signs of trouble by any other fanatics (apart from figuring how to open the bonnet on your own, that is, with that double pull to release... [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]).

I speak under correction, but the motor industry in general will say that a litre of oil used for no less than 1000 km is considered within spec.

It also seems to be a fairly common issue that some of the E90, and I would imagine just about all models these days, use oil to a degree. And it seems as though the oil usage is pretty random - that is, some drive hard, some drive a lot more gently, and yet the oil consumption varies regardless.

For those cars using oil, think of it this way - at least your engine is getting some fresh oil every now and again between the otherwise sludge making lengthy service intervals!

Okay... Good I found this.. My baby is an oil drinker of note.. Will remember to check the levels monthly... On this.. OEM from BMW? Or what's the best?

My oil pump was replaced (leaking) since my last post on thia thread... My car no longer uses oil since they sorted that... Have never got the top up warning again. And I also check the levels now and again, they are good. Weird...

i have the n54 and if you drive the car hard it does use oil i dad to fill 2l in the 10000km interval
so yes i would say its normal and on the plus side i look at it as fresh oil going into the motor which is good

Flip so what you saying I'm not driving hard enough???

Met up with Phantom yesterday, his 335's onboard computer shows avg fuel consumption 7L/100km, mines on 11.48!!!

Anyway touch-wood haven't had any oil issues.
