F30 330d Oil Leak

Hey all, I just stopped at home and after walking around the car I saw a drop of oil. Looking underneath there's a small puddle below the engine. I opened the bonnet and it seems like an oil line or something ruptured on the passenger side of the engine (see the picture). Any idea what this can be? I'll see if I can get the problem diagnosed by a mechanic tomorrow, was just wondering if it's safe to drive.

not sure what that is bro but I wouldn't take any chances driving it.
rather find the root cause of the issue, oil starvation on a 30d can have catastrophic consequences.

Thanks, think I'll just have the car flat-bedded to a mechanic. I'm starting to wonder if it is in fact an engine oil leak or maybe something else. It's been 10,000km since the last oil change (it's due for a service this month), and the oil is very light and thin. A diesel's engine oil after 10,000km should be pitch black if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: yep that's coolant with antifreeze pooling under the car and collecting next to the wall

It does look like a small oil leak at the top which has been caught in the airflow inside the engine bay while you have been driving. Not necessarily enough to drain the engine of oil.

Check your coolant level and for possible leaks as that could potentially be a bigger problem. A weak spot is where the main pipe joins the radiator at the top.

Good luck. 🤞🏻

On my ex F25 3.0d X3 i always had a very slow water leak (topped up maybe every 3 months) but recently since i sold the car to my son we noticed some whitish stuff collecting under the water bottle and realized that it is leaking from the pipe leading out of the bottle on the under side of it. It has been since i had it as it had some white stuff caking under the bottle from the leakage. So if yours is leaking it might be from there.

Thanks everyone. Yeah this is a pretty big leak. I topped op the coolant yesterday (probably put i 2+ liters) and this is what I saw underneath the car directly after.

Insurance is just gonna flatbed it to Ross Duncan in Midrand this coming week.

Car was flatbedded to Ross Duncan in Midrand this morning. They confirmed it's the coolant intake pipe that burst.
