F30 328i recall issues

Hi Guys,

Not sure if any of you guys have had your F30 (328i) recalled.
I took mine in for a service for oil & brakes (28000) and was advised that BMWSA had a campaign recall hence the ecu needed to be "re-configured"
My car now rides like a 320i (no disrespect to 320i owners).
I have the prof nav hence I could monitor power & torque on the car. The car used to run all the way up to 180kw & 350 Torque, as per spec.

Now the car only gets to 150kw & 310 torque no matter how hard I drive it. WTF!!!

I am really not happy with the way the car rides at the moment, to the point that I want to get rid of it.

Has BMW detuned the 328i?
Have any of you had this kind of issue?

Thanks.

Seriously uncool.. So it's tuned to the F20 125i spec now.. What is the stock boost PSI on the 328i @ 180kw?

Shocking to hear, please put pressure on BMW SA, I did last year and had them replace my F30 due to issues, you bought this vehicle due to performance and if this has been altered since than you have the right to have it sorted out or your money refunded.

Thanks for the advice. Dealer is currently looking into it. Can you give me a lead on the escalation channel at BMW SA. Tx

Is it not running the same delivery mode it did when you got it brand new? They need to run in... So that was probably reset as well?

So BMW are de-tuning their cars these days...I am losing respect for BMW more and more each day, sounds like the F30 is just another E90 but I wasn't expecting anything less from the downward spiraling auto manufacturer....BMW can't build reliable cars any more.:thumbdo:

I kinda have to agree with you on this Gizmo, especially for the 3er built here in SA - I think it's badly put together albeit a great car when everything is actually working.

You can still drive a BMW, but just not the el-cheapo 1/3/4's and with BMW offering all these stupid GFV offer there are just more and more on the road too . Best bet is a 5/6/7 I guess which is what I am getting next

I don't think that this is the case as my car used to get up to 180kw from day 1.

Stealership response is that they need to follow up with BMWSA as they did not set the ecu. It was in fact done by BMWSA themselves.

This is one of the reasons the builds from 2013 onwards were modified

Hmm, that is weird also as I know they run them in detuned for a while. They are correct in stating that they do not tune the ECUs. BMWSA Technical gets involved and they send the appropriate files to upload to the ECU - the dealers just do as instructed from BMWSA in almost all these MP/Warranty/Recall stuff..

Check the software, I'm sure you can get a 'before' and 'after' view of what was installed.

When I took my car in for a 1st service @ 30 000km, they tried to update the software on the first day and failed multiple times. Car was kept in and the BMW techs from the factory came to the Midrand dealership to sort it out.

I don't notice any power difference, the menu colors etc would have changed.
