So I read the write up on the new F30 328i in the latest Car Magazine and I see the car is quicker than the Gti 6 35 edition thats also tested in the same issue. Two 4 pot turbo engines, well done to BMW's engineers  .

Yip, read it also, what im amazed with is the Fuel cons.... i really though it would be quite heavy!! it was incredibly light!! lighter than the G6 Ed35 also....

Also note the mileage in the test car was like 2000 plus, so is it really using the full 180kw..?

0-100 in 6.61 seconds , 1km in 26.72 at 202,41 km/h for 328i .
0-100 in 6.55 seconds , 1km in 26.49 at 201.40 km/h for golf .
from 40-60 , 60-80 , 80-100 , 100-120 , 120 to 140 in drive the golf is faster .
Maybe a 128i 5-door will show the golf the way .:thumbs:

Well they said ride refinement and quality interior makes one forget about the glorious 6 pot sound which was admired from the previous generations.... is this true ???

The 35 edition uses a detuned version of that motor! The golf R is the same motor, which is also a 4 pot turbo engine as its so put, and it will demolish the 328i, well done to the vw engineers :bravo:

o yes, the small thing of the weight.. and size of the car..

im sure you would know air resistance is the biggest factor in acceleration, the f30 is wider and higher and heavier.

the N20 is a game changing motor.

its competition simply does not have an equivelant motor at the same price.

the 328i is faster, yet more fuel efficient.

it produces all its torque at idle almost.

in a world where fuel economy is startting to playa huge role its great to see BMW producing motors that out perform competitors and still giveb etter fuel economies - even when competitors have much larger economies of scale.

the motor used in the 35 edition is well known for its lag, and was replaced in the standard gti.

the BMW N20 motor has already racked up awards for being a best in class motor(I can post these if need be).. not sure the same can be said for the VW motor.

The N20 motor is impressive in stock form... Reading up on o/seas forums I believe just a tune and these motors push up to 220kw....:=):
A that's just the beginning with more time and development that figure will grow..... Tune only!!!
