R12.66! That's nice and cheap. Where do you pay that?
I filled up 2 days ago and 95 was R13.28 and 50 diesel was R13.78.
320i @20k km = R16 200
320d @20k km = R12 400
But there's the greatest thing - as the fuel price goes up, the 320d saves more money.
In a drag race I would put my money down on the 320d winning. Quarter mile, half mile, mile, rolling from 50. Doesn't matter what those specs say. I've driven a 320i and I've read the tests. I drove an E90 323i and that felt faster.
Also, 4.5 combined for the 320d is a lot more feasible than 6.1 is for the 320i! Is there anyone here who owns a 320i and can better 6.0 on the highway at normal speed?
Some tests:
Autoweek (7.8s)
Car (8.11s)
Iol (7.9s)

Yeah, ok...but...then the BMW 320 series are actually luxury sedans. If you like "revving" you should be going for something like the AUDI TT, or BMW Z4...
OR
If you are a peformance junkie and can afford it, and don't care much about economy, then 335i, I suppose.
But if you look at the 320i vs 320d....
Then:
320d Consumption: 4.5 l/100km
320i Consumption: 6.1 l/100km
((6,1/4,5)*100)-100 = 35,5% !!
Consider an average of 20 000 km of driving, which is what most people do in a year (at least):
The i will use 20000/(100/6.1) = 1219 litres of petrol, costing 1219 x 13.08 = R15944.52
The d will use 20000/(100/4.5) = 900 litres of diesel costing 900 x 12.66 = R11 394.00
(The above obviously depends on driving habits, and of course, lots of people drive more. so then economy plays an even bigger role)
So, you are forking out R4 550 for a bit of "revving" which is not getting you to your destination any quicker.
But hey...what ever rocks your boat...

yes it was an e90 but ever since then I just class them the same although I had a ride in what I think was a 318 F30 with the 8 speed box F@#k that thing moves hey

But do the fuel savings of the 320d justify the much higher price over the 320i.
e.g Brand new 320i Sportline (std model) - R419,100
Brand new 320d Sprtline (std model) - R448,100
That's a R29,000 difference which can never be made up on fuel savings alone over the life of the 320d.
In reality, I guess there are other components that make up that price differential e.g the higher torque of the 320d.
As for me, I just want the F30 320d and I'm getting close :inlove:! Nothing will change my mind now...nothing I say!

Ai ai looks like its all a debate on what is the fastest the F30d or F30i. This is getting boaring now. Lets just get 2 F30s together at sea level and at altitude and see once and for all what the results are
Im at sea level 320d auto.

You cant class them the same, yes they both badged as 320i, but the one is a 110kw 2l 4cylinder n/a. The other is a 135kw 2l 4cylinder turbo.
You don't get a F30 318, but a F30 316i (100kw), and its no where near as powerful as a F30 320i.
