The only real issue I have with it is simply the lifespan of the starter motor from the frequent restarting. Unless they are using some sort of technology similar to what Mazda developed that stops the engine during a compression stroke which is enough to swing the engine and restart it without making use of the starter motor...

The car only did it to me once, when I put it into park to re-adjust my seat. I actually didn't notice the engine turn off. I heard it turn on again, very quick. There must be some witchcraft going on there.

Actually noticed this happen to the majority of people when they came back and stopped. Heard one of the 320d's shut-off and virtually immediately restart! Also heard one begin to turn over and then abort as if the driver took their foot off the brake pedal while pressing the start button - let's see how the starter motors last on these early F30 models...

went to the launch at zambsie and am really impressed with it,drove the 320d as well as the 328i and it is much better than the e90.very qick and have to say that the 328i could get you into a lot of trouble.also much more comfortable than the e90.

the front looks a bit like the z4,and the rear a 5 series

the problem i have is the price, for the 320d speced with the extras i want come to R440 000.now in a year or two i most probably get a low km one with even more specs for less

so gonna wait it out.also looked and drove a 2007 ac schintzer 335i coupe(90 000km) for R359 000.would rather buy this over the new model any day,and it is a beast.
body kit, 19 inch wheels, exhaust plus all the mods under the hood are ac schintzer
when you put it int m/s mode and you come up to a stop street, the throttle actually blips:praise:

Interior looks epic I missed the launch at my dealer :thumbdo:

Im actaully looking forward for the Coupe to get here:

Imagine it looks something like this in ///M guise

*Please note these are not official pictures i took these off the net

I attended the Launch at Sandton Auto.

To be honest, I expected a more exclusive event, especially since I had to RSVP for the damned thing, only to get there and find every tom dick and Harry test driving the cars and sweating over the cars.

Where was the exclusive launch?

The cars are awesome, but the price isnt.

I test drove the 320d in a sport combination. I found it much smoother and responsive than my existing E90 LCI, and with a little more kick than mine. Although, its rated at 135 kW as well.

there was not enough information available on the day about the 3 different variants. and I found the salespeople useless. When i mentioned Servotronic steering to the salesguy on the test drive, he was confused. Yet this is an option on all new 3 models.

:nonono:

I think the price isnt really justified, and as with my 320d E90 LCI, I will wait for a nice, well specced Demo.

The 328i I have been told is legendary. But having become a diesel fanatic, I am waiting for a 330d or 335d.

As far as the whole experience of a new model launch, it was lacking, no lanyard, 3 series pens, not even a new 3 series magazine telling me about the new 3 series and its variants.

No doubt that the new one will win hearts and minds, slowly convincing those doubting its lines over time.

I just expected a bit more fanfare from a premium brand.

BMW.........The launches need to be a talking point, the cars already are.

@Nastaliq - That's disappointing to hear. I think AA in Cape Town did a great job. Nice Layout, decent amount of information, and the salespeople knew what they were talking about.

Yep, had an awesome time both Saturday and Sunday at Auto Atlantic - should have also gone to SMG at Canal Walk though.

Sounds like they ware asleep there in sandton...
The alberante one had i fairly decent setup with some useless info but for people that don't know about RFT technology.

They had heli rides to see the dealership from the air etc.
With regards to the servotronic steering they had a 335i there and a e90 lci - they ask you to first drive the e90 lci and then the F30 to feel the difference in the steering and then proceeded to explain how the servotronic works etc.. overall they had a pretty decent setup there but i do agree that every 2nd tom dick and useless harry could walk in and testdrive... :-(

I was at SMG for an hour on Saturday. Auto Atlantic was far better.
