F30 2012 320d limp mode and restart problems...

Hi All,

Hope I can get someone who may have come across this problem.

So was driving @ 140, hit a pothole and infotainment screen went off along with all sound. Drove for 30mins like this. Got home, parked and next day when I started the car, it was working again. Since then however, every little bump would turn the screen off, but it would come on again by itself. This continued intermittently, sometimes badly for 3 days until the next thing that happened was every time the screen goes, the car goes loses power, with error message, DRIVETRAIN...DRIVE MODERATELY. If I press the accelerator, the car decelerates even faster. Then I would have to pull over and restart the car. The next phase was the car not starting at all if the screen did not come on first. If screen comes on, car will start, if not, it doesn't. I've sat for hours some days.Had to be towed home even on others. The whole time, when I push the start button, she cranks continuously, just doesn't start. Diagnostics machines pick up no error @ dealership, Ross Duncan (spent a week with them working perfectly, terminals were cleaned and tightened, but n nothing else could really be done as car worked perfectly) & RFM Maintenance in Springs (spent a week with them working perfectly, and another where it would lose power and not start, they eventually suggested a new computer box for R30K, which is why I'm asking here first). Radio was removed and replaced by electronics specialists I was reffered to in Kempton Park. This seemed to work as the car ran and started successfully for 2 weeks, but then I got stuck again for 2 hours. Still no radio in and car still getting stuck. What I've picked up is that without the radio, my new guide is the boot light. If I open the boot and the light inside is on, the car will start, if it's off, it will not. If the car sits for a week, it starts up perfectly and runs no issues for a few days. Something else I pick up is the the idle revs are close to 1000 after sitting for a week, and as the car deteriorates, the idle revs drop by 200 or so when the car starts giving me problems. Battery has been tested, everybody says it's not the battery. I'm just lost now, have spent close to R10K since December 2016 on diagnostics and attempted fixes (DDR box, fuses, can lines, etc) and still the issue persists. Car is on 122 000km's, perfectly maintained @ Ross Duncan.

I love this car so much, just want it working again

- Problem started after hitting pothole with left front tyre.
- Drivetrain error ONLY occurs after the screen goes off.
- The car cranks EVERYTIME, just doesn't start.
- Screen being on or off is DEFINITE indicator to whether or not car will start.
- Without radio, boot light being on or off is DEFINITE indicator to whether or not car will start.
- If car sits undisturbed for a week or more, it works perfectly for up to 5 days before giving problems.
- Idle revs after start begin to slowly drop from 1000 the more the car is driven, proceeding the car being undisturbed for a week or more.

Anybody have ANY SORT of insight to add that I could perhaps share with the people who have looked at it?
