F20 Cruise control error

I have an intermittent cruise control error that comes up on my 2013 BMW F20 118i, BMW quoted R12 000 to replace the Switch Cluster as this is apparently the fault.

The cruise control works fine at the moment and nothing else on the car is affected from a driving perspective. How common is this? Has anyone else experience this cruise control warning and are there alternative methods of fixing. I doubt it, seems like a "dealer-only" part.

The car just went out of the motor plan last year and my Hollard extended warranty doesn't cover the switch cluster which needs replacing.

Same issue on the F20 125i, pops up, then followed by an error for the limiter, and all this happens intermittently and can't replicate the error myself. BMW once had a look, tested, but couldn't find fault, so did not do anything.

Car now off warranty, and the error still comes on every now and then. Need to stress that is has not impacted my ability to use it when I needed to.

If it ever becomes permanent error and severe, do you guys think I have grounds to report to BMW SA, given that I reported it to dealership before car went off warranty?
