So I did not get my car back today. Bev phoned me and told me that now the fuel pump is also being replaced. Damn fellas. This is getting a tiny bit ridiculous. Well ok, motor plan pays for all this stuff so I'm grateful for that.

right, I got my car back today! :coolShake:

so now I have been looking at doctor google and there is a heap load of conflicting info out there, so how do I get the new engine registered and whatever else needs doing? some say I need to go to licensing department to do something, then leave and go to cops, then go back to licencing department to get the registration sorted out. apparently I need a data dot certificate, wth is that? Please help!

Is the car still under motorplan? If it is shouldn't be an issue. The engine, oil and fuel pump replacement didn't cost ma a thing. If not, then that's gonna suck a lot.

They say that the replacement engine will have no issues. Seems the 2012 models specifically had dodgy oil pumps and the head was redesigned for 2013 models if I'm not mistaken.

The license department turned out to be fairly painless. You need 2 copies of reg cert, data dot cert, engine replacement confirmation and invoice from bmw, ID and proof of residence. Stay away from the microdot place and the useless helper idiots that hang around at the gate. O and when you have the clearance certificate that is just a screen grab off the e natis site leave and get a new licence disk from the post office as per normal. To get a data dot cert phone 0861 1000 10. They just need the cars vin.

@ Peanut , I need to have my engine clearance done , did you have to have microdot done on your vehicle ? or is it just a matter of getting the cert?

I nearly had a heart attack looking at the bill from BMW , R200k for replacement motor and whatever else was replaced.

You probably just need the cert. It's highly unlikely that your car doesn't have data dot installed from factory.

R200k. Yo, mine was only R144k. What else did they replace on you car? Aditional to the engine on my car was oil and petrol pump.

Turbo, clutch , leaking xenon lamps , battery.
