:inlove: I love manuals & I hate auto's but these turbo'd cars need auto's to reach their full potential.
Nothing beats dropping to 3rd & releasing the clutch though

I think manual gearboxes these days are so technologically advanced it's scary. I know a DCT is quicker than a manual on launch wadda wadda, but it's not like there is such a HUGE difference that it justifies the cost premium over a manual.
And most agree that a manual is still the more true reflection of a driver's car than a DCT.
Guess ultimately it comes down to personal preference. This M5 must be wicked in manual though. Not an option available here though is it?

Nope... only in the USA... of all places!

:fencelook: this from a nation that calls it a "stick" shift and not a manual....:roflol: Interesting that it is only available there.

I would take this in manual and couldn't be bothered by the slight performance loss due to not being automatic and taking advantage of between gear change boost. But this seems to be the same nonsense as with the E60 - and if it is the same, then I suspect that this engine in the manual models will also be slightly detuned as it was in the E60 manual...

I like my manual, and with the way things are going manual performance cars are going to become rarer than hen's teeth. Even Dr Clarkson prefers the manual over paddle shift.
As far as the E60 is concerned, there wasn't ever a manual M5 was there? Or was that a North America thing only as well?

Aaaaaaah. It's just odd that a country that is dominated by automatic vehicles has the option for a manual M5, whether it be F10 or E60, yet in places like the UK and here there is no option. Maybe they weigh up the population ratio and assume that a higher percentage of people would want that option. So in a country like the US where they have 300mil people odd, they know that they would sell 50,000 M5's 20% of which would be manual, making it 10,000 units.
Whereas here, they will sell 5000 M5's and 20% of the buying market would want a manual, making it 1000 units, so wouldn't be worth the money offering the car here because of no demand.

I know, when I first heard this I thought it was some sort of cruel joke... :nonono:

Sad but true. A great irony.
