The trick to drawing crowds, is something that the family can attend, not just us guys, or the vrous start acting faulty.

Also, enough time advance notice, so its not a Thursday announcement that something is happening on Sat.

Track day is definitely on my list. I don't want to be negative but I dont think it will happen in 2015... look at the attendance for dyno day, 35 cars.

Hiring a track for a full track day is north of 80k.

Odi is 20k for 400m and 1000m. And their timing is crap. Its far. Tarlton is over 60k for a pvt event. We have to cover costs somehow. Unless our advertisers chip in and we have a 100% attendance it's going to be a challenge.

Im not saying we cannot attend other clubs events as BMWFANATICS. I have been arranging that. We got discounted rates for the vwclub track day. So far, 1 (one) person has registered afaik.

How about a trackday weekend like what the Reno boys did at the new track in Delmas? Im sure that will be cheaper than kyalami\zwartkops and making it a weekend will make it different.

MaX, do you have a name for this track? That can definitely be arranged.

Nastaliq, I try to post the events up a month in advance. The purpose of this thread is to post a yearly calender. This way, you can possibly plan for the entire year.

Car wash events, i dont know hey. We have a a lot of members who prefer not to make use of car wash. I suppose they can still come through and chill out. Will look into it.

Family safe events, this is a worry. For example, woman folk get super bored at car meets. Hence the cars and coffee was setup to take place at a shopping centre. This way, the ladies can go burn plastic while the men oogle at cars.

Thanks for the response so far, your ideas are really helpful.

One more q, how often would you guys like to attend an event? At present, its a monthly event. Would you suggest having a 2 meets per month, maybe one can be social and the other a challenge?

My ultimate aim for 2015 is to get a Dealership on board as a sponsor! Wish me luck!

Commitment is a major issue, i am also one of those that cant commit to events due to my studies and no matter how early things are planned in advance trying to explain to the SO that i will be attending a cars and coffee/dyno day as opposed to a lunch/braai with her friends/or family is not easy. Even though the lunch/braai is planned a few days before and the cars and coffees can be planned weeks in advance.

The other thing is also the availability of people and i know our events team try their best to accommodate as many people as possible but realistically its difficult.

maybe another approach might be to get a better idea of who would prefer to attend the different events on which days?

We might find that breakfast runs on Sundays might/might not work for many, saturdays is better. Ice cream meets better on fridays and cars and coffee on saturday/sunday.

Am i pulling at straws?

No no, we get together somewhere and wash our own cars. A sort of mini-detail day. We get to share car care tips, for inside and out, get a look at how anal others are about keeping their cars clean, see the lengths some go through to get a perfect shine, etc etc etc.

The ONLY problem I see with this... Is location.

Unless someone knows someone who knows someone with a carwash that will allow us to make use of their facilities.

I hear you and dont get me wrong with what im about to say, you ideas are great.

To successfully have 2 or more events on a weekend we need more coordinators willing to do the job.

I know we don't have much of an affiliation with the BMW Car Club, but what about speaking to them when they have their events,we promote them, they promote us?
There are a few guys on here that are also members there,so maybe we can piggy back off them and them us? A dual marketing strategy?
I like Chef's idea of the car wash day. I live in a complex and have to get my car washed at a normal car wash, which I am NOT happy about,so I am up for this, just need to get my polisher up from Cape Town.
As far a private track day,I was at the Lotus day at Zwartkops on Sunday, it was brilliant.

I will make contact with the BMWCC guys. Another ultimate aim is to be independent from other clubs although, We have the opportunity to piggy back off the VWCLUB of SA.

Actually i was implying that there should be a poll to identify which days suit more people for specific events, not have more than event over a weekend.

Although i think the poll thing has been done, and the figures from the poll dont reflect on the day...:thumbdo:

Ahhh okay, i didnt hear you then! LOL

Its very difficult to please everyone.

These are some of the reasons we are faced with:

Event on Saturday - Need to do shopping. Businessmen are working on Saturdays. Wife has things to buy, shops are not open on Sundays.

Event on Sunday - Have church to go to. Sunday is family day. Prepare for the week ahead. Need rest.

Its never an easy task choosing a date. I prefer choosing the first or last weekend of the month, as people have money then. But then, we need to do groceries, etc also. So i decided to keep events to the second weekend of the month. This way, there is still money available and not have anything to do.

A couple years ago my Dad and I participated in the BMW Car club Gauteng "Poker Run" which was essentially a version of the Amazing Race. We had to decrypt BMW orientated clues and got to visit natural landmarks and places we'd never seen before! Was one of the best events I'd ever experienced, but AFAIK BMW CCG does not host the annual event any more. Obviously top of my list would be a track day at Zwartkops or even a technical event racing around the kart track.

Paintball is cool.

Even extreme go karting. I know of a venue in Sunninghill. Up to 6 racers at a time.
