Hi Guys,

Anyone experiencing erractic idoling problems? This is on my E46 325i.

When driving for example and you put into neutral coming to a red robot, the idoling bounces up and down from 800 to 500 and back for a short period.

Then when parked and idoling, I tap the accelerator slightly and as the needle drops and you consistenly do the tapping it evenly drops below 500 and wants to cut out as the needle bouces up and down ????

This only started happening when the dealership replaced the alternator and it is also making a whizzing sound from the alternator.

Any ideas?

Where does one locate the idle control valve and how do you clean it?

Pipes for leaks. Need to take cover of to chack back pipes.)

PS ignore the heading as only afterwards I realized I said Iddle valve instead of Throttle body. :)))

If it's a E90 your car doesn't have a ICV, it has valvetronic which varies the lift of the intake valves to control the idle as well as engine speed.

Dealership had changed the DISA valve last week so that can be included on your list and still the same problem. Car is back in the shop today and spoke to the floor manager. So we shall see and will update as to how they fix the problem if it is fixed, hopefully.
